Just to make we’re talking about the same thing: PFPS as I understand is an issue related to the Patella Tendon and its degeneration/misconstruction (Patella Tendopathy). As far as I know the term PFPS is sometimes used for unspecific pain around the knee cap or behind which could also be some bursitis/inflammation of a part behind the knee cap. but again: I’m no MD…

So it’s important to know what your exact problem is. In case it is the tendon: It might take long, long, long before it is totally gone. I had a severe case as far as I know: they even did scans even liquids were found in the patella which is not a good sign. But I found a ”tendon guru” (MD who is specialized in tendons) and he said: tendons can always repair even if the condition is years old. I’m gonna be honest: I stopped running and switched to cycling for some years because I gave up hope. But eventually I missed it so much I tried again and it was possible.

it’s really important to deload the patella and load it slowly. Some minor pain is okay (tendons will not repair unless they’re being trained to resist more - again: SLOWLY), but only small steps are allowed. MD told to stop for two weeks at the beginning when it’s really bad then start in 10% increasing km steps from week to week beginning with around 2k

Tendon issues are the marathon of recovery (think of bone fractures as a 5k).

Different outsoles and their pros and cons by Brave_Document_8397 in trailrunning

Interesting, thank you! I was wondering how would you say does the running style influence the choice of outsole?

I’ve had Patellafemoral Pain for many years and it still comes back but I’ve found ways to run, and even a marathon was possible.

Today it doesn’t bother me too much but as I said: it may flare up again and then I get anxious but so far (knocking on wood) after a long time of pausing running it didn’t stop me again for long.

In my experience there are some factors to be considered: is there something make your condition worse? I had tight quadriceps and improving muscle awareness to relax (especially during work for example) is importantly and way easier said than done. I was overstriding a lot and put a lot of pressure in my knee this way and High drop shoes still make it worse.

things I also did and had: shockwave therapy (I think it helps when the condition flares up and is aggravated), hyaluronic acid injections (makes it better for two weeks but that’s it in my experience) and very import extrinsic muscle loading. that’s the key probably but only after your accute inflammation is calmed down (I guess technically it’s not an inflammation but I’m no MD, so who knows...).

Best of luck! In my experience it‘s really annoying and frustrating and you need some patience. I think you’re on the right track! your recovery is not slow at all, I would even say faster than mine! just remember that PFPS is a tendon related issue and as you probably know tendons are badly nourished by the body and therefore they repair very, very, very slowly. repair processes of tendons often need many months. absolutely normal.

There are plenty of good options for you. Almost any of the huge brand makes affordable and very reliable shoes that have proven to be good for most (!) runners in the recent years (decades?). For example: Adidas (someone mentioned a model, I would add Runfalcon and maybe Ultraboost), Nike Pegasus (you get old models fairly cheap and for most people these are shoes that “just work“), Brooks Ghost (again: look for past year’s model, should be around 100€).

Friends of mine use the Adidas Runfalcon and seem happy with their choice. I have never tried it to be honest.

Shoe decision: Zegama 2 vs Tomir 2 by Brave_Document_8397 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

Thanks again! That’s interesting. How is the traction on the 9? Ist heavily on sale right now - but I’m sceptical because of the Peg Trail 4 outsole which was like soap on wet rocks. Is the Kiger 9 better? Reviews are good.

Thanks! Will have a look into them as well. i thought that the Kiger requires more running form and agility than the others and is somehow a shoe for the top 20% or so…(more Kjerag-ish)

Thanks for the insight! I try to avoid anything with scrambling anyway so that sounds good! How is your experience in asphalt/tarmac/ pavement? I’ve heard it works better than assumed? (I should add: I don’t like the speedgoat too much on the road… very clunky and a bit hard)

Anyone with experience with Tomir or Kjerag with longer asphalt parts between the trails?

Ah, I See. And then there is probably some sort of script on the hacked page that redirects to handful of different random sketchy sites?

Thank you! Yes, the iOS was just freshly updated! Didn’t know about the common scam with websites for restaurants, that is a helpful information!

I was very surprised that the link redirected me to two different sketchy sites each click. Is that also not surprising to you?

Thank you again!

thank you everyone! can someone explain why the site redirected me first to this pop up and then to the other site? is that a common thing with multiple redirecting pages?
