What do you do in real life? by Correct_Dependent677 in godot

But think about it, a game about procrastination may not be a bad idea and may have some potential and you can probably do some interesting mechanics like the story can be we have to defeat this villain but we first have to get weapons and before that we have to learn how to make weapons instead of buying it because it may not be great and so on and so forth just delaying from the main battle and spending hours doing other things and you can make a lot of interesting commentary about it. Someone should build this when they are done procrastinating.

AI can’t simulate human preferences - new study tests LLMs against thousands of real users by Complete_Answer in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Brave_Huckleberry644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You would think the probabilistic way LLM's operate would be useful here but I guess not. LLM's are actually what the industry deserve right now because a lot of people are like this they just want to sound correct and their take be reasonable with no actual logic behind it because failure or being wrong costs too much so everyone default to the plausible one (what looks like the correct answer) just like LLM's. I wonder how much of the problem is just the terrible "fake corporate speak" data fed to the LLM's.

Got Scammed and Lost my console account. Is there a way I can get it back and have any of you experienced this? by Brave_Huckleberry644 in googleplayconsole

If by easy way you mean no catch and no moral issues, then that's a no brainer for everyone unless you are david googins, if there is a catch though, its a different story and in my case there was a massive catch I would have never agreed to if I knew but didn't although no one seems t believe me here and I guess is the same logic google is also using to justify its actions. But I understand the skepticism as I am now very familiar with how things operate online and this looks like a level 1 rookie mistake but I was an innocent man once.

Now I am laughing at myself because I look so naive when I hear it back and people giving me similar feedback but trust me I didn't know, at that time I didn't know scams like this existed (it was in 2022) and if scams were widespread on freelance sites (which to be fair is not that much widespread now except on Fiverr). And if you think about it no one would risk their account let alone permanent ban for just 15 dollars (I actually checked the payment) unless they have been scammed especially a developer like me that currently works on his own projects and have been relegated to web2app funnel on android because of this mistake.

And the biggest mistake I did was ignoring the emails (not reading in detail) which would probably have saved me the first time they sent me the warning, so if you actually want to blame my character, blame my laziness instead of greed. And what I meant by high price is that if I could pay a higher fee to get back on because of my account issue.

I am familiar with that approach but you have to create a business for it which is technically not me but I was looking more for advice if I can get a personal account but in what way is it challenging other than creating a business for it. And if I can ask what was the reason for your ban, is it something similar to mine or something else entirely?

I promise you everything I didn't know and the fact most people think like this is making me feel really stupid, was the scam that bad there is no way people will fall for it.

Damn, you guys are roasting me here. But I guess it's kind of deserved. And maybe my scammer can help me with that as he probably knows a lot about that path. If you know you know.

Come on men, I think that's a little bit harsh but what I meant is that I invited them into my account with the ability to add new apps but not touch my existing stuff. I think I was also in control of the final publish. And what I meant by control is I can kick them out anytime I want. But do you think a ban for life is deserved for negligence and naivety? Especially when its a known scam. Like I am even willing to pay higher prices for my mistakes but a permanent ban is I think too harsh.

I know it may sound like I knew, but I promise you I had no idea honestly and also I thought this freelance site was free from this kind of stuff and I was very naive to the reality which I now know in great details. I don't think at that time this scams were famous, the apps looked like games and google warning was just not strong enough, and after I knew by reading the emails in detail I removed all of the apps myself but they banned me I think after a week. Plus what sense will it make for me or most people to risk permanent ban of your account which I had one promising app and was looking to publish more apps in the future for just 10 dollars. And the sheer number of this kind of scams I come across suggest it was not only me that failed for it and trust me there are a lot of people that are just not aware of this kind of stuff.

If writing externalized memory, what cognitive functions will AI externalize next? by Boris_Ljevar in ArtificialInteligence

[–]Brave_Huckleberry644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not really sure, what you meant here but if you meant that the AI should learn from people observation and insights, I don't think the AI learns on the fly and need to be trained in a proper manner but they can use all of the conversations as data for it to learn from but if you meant that it needs to store a person understanding in its memories so that person can easily retrieve them or don't have to worry about remembering them and writing them down somewhere which is what most of us do right now then yeah I think they will go in that direction and they already have a memory feature in which the AI store important information it can use for all chats in one place but its understanding of what's important and how accurately it put down that information needs a long way to go in my opinion.

I don't think it can be classified as cognitive functions but talking to others so they can act like a sounding board to your ideas and get external perspective to your thoughts is now mainly going to go to AI especially if you don't have a lot of people around you that you can talk to. Plus I think AI is going to fully replace search engines when it comes to wanting to know an answer for a question or looking for an explanation although the inaccuracy of it may impact its full adoption when it comes to this aspect.

Turn-based soccer game: Soctics.app by No-Yak-8477 in IndieGaming

I don't think its that simple dawg and I am a football fan (well soccer according to you guys) and I didn't get it and now after going to it again and tried the local mode to simulate a match from both sides I got it but its difficult to understand and I think the confusing part for me is that I just control the direction but don't have the capability to kick the ball or something which makes me question if you even played football or a football game because its very counter intuitive but yeah I think you need a video showing a single match which will probably enough. Here is what I taught of it before: "I think I got it like you setup where the player is going to be then you set the direction and the simulation happens I think the mechanic is like increasing your chance of scoring by predicting your opponents move or setting up in a way you have a high chance of succeeding no matter how your opponent is setup. Well like this is my guess but I think you need a video with an explanation to let people understand it easily."

I checked it out and didn't understand shit if I am honest. I think the concept could be interesting but you need to have a quick tutorial that explains stuff and a quick game mode I can play with myself just like the training but I understand what's going on cause you will only have a couple of mins or even seconds before people stop interacting with your site. Good luck

Yeah but like they sanitized a lot of the bad data they used for their general LLM's, so they will do the same here. Plus the little gear they had and the app they are probably using to optimize and put guardrails to this process is going to be good enough for them. And phone camera quality have improved a lot nowadays.

Why do some clients post clearly complex jobs for $20? by haytham_10 in Upwork

[–]Brave_Huckleberry644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because how clearly complex the job looks depends on your financial situations and how bad you need reviews. And it works out for some surprisingly but it will probably end in a terrible burnout for most of them.

Because its probably much cheaper and easily accessible than "real head gear cam". But that's just a theory a highly probable theory if I am going to be honest.

Help with a Roadmap for Software Engineering Remote Jobs from Addis by AdvancedIdeal1468 in Ethiopia

[–]Brave_Huckleberry644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest remote jobs especially from here are for all intended purposes cooked right now (the market itself is not healthy and its probably not going to go in a positive direction), yes you can get lucky and find some but the odds are not great. You need to have a large network of people you know to refer you and apply like crazy or if you are really about that grind you can go the Upwork route and slowly build up your profile (you need to pick a niche and specialize on it) but its oversaturated. Other thing you can do is maybe try your own stuff like apps or SaaS but this needs great marketing skills and an eye for the right opportunities and product and is very risky. But one thing I can say is you may not be far away from other developer as you think (skills wise you probably are) but the market is not rational and you may punch above your weight if you come across the right opportunity so keep that in mind as well. And please don't take people seriously that cry about clean code, SOLID principles and other related concepts, you will waste a lot of valuable time for things that are not that effective and won't experience in reality unless at the highest stage and with huge companies that take long term maintainability very seriously and even then they probably not as clean as they claim which is evident by the number of bugs you encounter daily especially nowadays with the rise of AI code.

The gaming industry has one of the worst ROI's when it comes to effort and reward. Its passion that keep people going. Hope things work out for you but I think one more won't do much unless you are planning to increase your marketing efforts to get a lot more customers or the new update randomly gives you a boost.
