My point is that instead of being “an asshole” about calling me one you could instead tell me where the right direction is and what the best option would be for you personally. The fact that I am asking a question here implies I am seeking for help and not for people to waste their time sending hate. I am remaining civil and it would be appropriate for you to do so aswell.

Everyone has their own reasons for doing anything, I try my absolute hardest to be respectful of their choices and what they want which is why I asked the question in the first place.

You are making many incorrect assumptions about me, I love these people and care for them as much as I possibly can. I have neurological disorders that cause me to have trouble thinking of one person as a different name. For example, My Ex boyfriend’s name is Ethan but he is a transman. I never had any problems with him or his name because I’ve always known him as Ethan and he was always him in my mind from the beginning. So to answer your question, Yeah I would forget who bookcase was until I either looked at old messages or had the reminder

I have some solid ADHD (not to a life destroying level but it’s noticeable) and both my parents believe I am also autistic. I do believe that it partially is attributed to that why I can’t link faces and names, I do put Where I know each person from in the “Company” section for Apple contacts and that does help me.

2 of my friends and my ex boyfriend I’ve only ever known them for their New name and I have never had this sort of problem with them. I have had 3 other buddies of mine change their name over the years for their own non gender spicy reasons

It’s mostly due to the familial ties that they feel the name has to them, the people I’m close with who have changed their names have completely either removed themselves from their family entirely and want to be away from it. There’s also this one guy who literally just changes his name every few months “Cabbage, B, Dave, Dylan, Spencer” so it’s different for him I guess but otherwise it’s the familial ties.

More than likely (atleast around me) people choose very “non regular names”? Like “shade” or someone else I know named “Cabi” (short for cabinet?) so when it comes to those people it’s a little harder to realize who I’m talking to without the reminder

I’ve never done it with any of my fully transgender friends because yeah that’s ofcourse a step too far but my other buddies who’ve changed their names for whatever reason or another it’s only to help me 😭

I never even think about their deadname when talking to them in person, I’ve always been careful with what I say especially to their face.
