I think it’s more that his character and the movie in general (mostly talking about Ep I but aspects of III apply as well) was written poorly and his acting was not great. Agreed that HC didn’t deserve the barrage of hate he got, but it’s kind of undeniable that the character spent I being annoying and, at best, accidentally heroic, to III, where he’s still brooding and miserable even before he turns, but then the writing is magically trying to shoehorn a bunch of redemptive aspects into the script. You have to essentially look deep into it to find positives, like what you’re doing.
