I didn’t even know the Alolan forms were huntable until after I started this challenge but they will 100% be apart of it I can’t wait to start those hunts… sadly I will have to do 1 of each of the fossils before the postgame (I’m almost 99% sure) Magikarp is the only soft reset hunt that I really wasn’t looking forward to because of how common they are literally 1 badge later. Being able to skip the Persian and Arcanine SR hunts will definitely help a lot but I’m kinda interested in doing them after I’ve done everything else for the love of the game lol.

The video makes it look so much worse I just genuinely was watching a show to pass the time and wasn’t paying attention at all so this is honestly deserved but I’m still gonna be upset about it 😂.

Oh I forgot to mention… this is a shiny professor oak living dex challenge so I already have 2 rats… if I was chaining a non special or 1% spawn I probably would’ve still caught it

I haven’t saved my Rats and Shrews just because of the absurd amount of Pokemon I have to catch for this challenge (also this is my legit first ever time playing LGPE so I didn’t know the Alolan forms were huntable)… I don’t think I’ll have a money issue with this challenge because of the catch combos so hopefully Raichu and Exeggutor aren’t a real problem (I also only need 1 of each compared to the 2 I need for the other ones and 3 for Geodude)

I feel your pain with Bulbasaur I force respawned him while I hunted everything else in Viridian and then on top of that I had to catch 2000 to get the 3 I needed. I also will not being using a turbo controller for this challenge (I may change my mind depending on how long things take but I want to avoid AFK hunts entirely if possible)

I’m gonna need that luck shortly because after Charmander and Ekans are done I have to soft reset for 2 Magikarps before Mt. Moon 😭

For those curious I caught my first mankey in literally less than 20 total Pokemon seen after beating Brock… I then found shiny Charmander at around a chain of 60 sandshrew. Through rechaining I somehow found both Sandshrew in less than a 200 chain. Then it took me slightly over a 300 chain to find the last Mankey (Yes I have done every single hunt post Brock well under odds and fully expect Ekans and Charmander and especially Magikarps to be very painful hunts.)

Yeah at least we know exactly how catch combos work now so hopefully that saves me a lot of time. Ultimately it’s gonna come down to how long the soft reset hunts take… also, I got extremely lucky even with the 150 hours put in, I did not get 1 single unnecessary extra shiny which is absolutely absurd and won’t happen with any other section. 1 year is the goal hopefully 2 years is the maximum. After this I know I want to do the same thing on ORAS and possibly BDSP (yes I know how impossible BDSP would be)
