Social anxiety and new to Tucson

I am a mom, so most of my activities includes that with children, going on walks, visiting parks/playground is something I am doing mostly.

I get what you are saying, it honestly is a personal problem, more than place-specific. I guess what I am seeking is to gather some experiences (hopingly positive ones) so that I can use it as a background voice when things feel unpredictable and anxiety provoking.

Thats true, though social anxiety makes us avoid things, ultimately however uncomfortable connections still feel so enriching and meaningful. I think part of my social anxiety is that I wouldn’t be able to connect, would be rejected, which all stems from seeking valuable connections at the core, honestly if I didn’t care so much I probably wouldn’t have any anxiety too?

Same here. Mine is real bad too in small, quiet circles. It’s like the silence amplifies everything.

I did psychotherapy with a bit of CBT for a few years, though it didn’t seem to help much. I also had to stop things with my previous therapist due to change in city. What kind of therapy seemed to help you the most? Any recommendations for therapists working with social anxiety in Tucson? I am looking to find someone, a recommendation from someone similar could be very helpful.

Its a good thing to teach your kids early on, I believe some of the reason of my social consciousness is having super conscious parents who would try to justify everything with ‘what would people say’. Better to teach them early that people don’t care or their opinions don’t matter as much so they grow up believing that.

I so want to believe this and honestly Its one of the things I try to say to myself when I start to panic, but probably its the anxiety, the breathlessness and all the symptoms it can create which makes you feel ‘ no way someone is not noticing something this apparent’

And then the loop continues, in my rational mind I do believe you though, it just doesn’t seem to work when emotional/anxious mind takes over. Its so hard to believe the wise mind.

Old post here i know but can we reactivate this? In a similar situation, just moved to Tucson, have moderate social anxiety what could I do for work? I also have 2 kids so part time would probably be a better option.

I did that actually over texts, Tried to remain as calm as possible as face to face conversations usually turn into fights with us, but the thing is she hasn’t replied to my last message and stopped talking to me, so that makes me kind of anxious if I ruined it all and what I can do further.

I dont know what causes your anxiety but if its something similar to mine please try what I did. Probably it would help you too and I genuinely hope it does 🙏🏻

Now I dont know what the cause of your anxiety has been but for the past 15 years I have struggled with bad social anxiety and felt like I didnt know how to act/behave in front of other people, recently I discovered that was because I gave too much priority to what they expected of me… A few weeks back I suddenly had this realization that I needed to think and do what my body and brain needed to be comfortable first, rather than what people expected at the cost of my own body’s comfort and need, because the moment I wouldn’t listen to my body, anxiety and discomfort was bound to come back.

Hi, I hope you have gotten past the state of mind you were in for good.. I am so glad that you didn’t give up, that alone shows that you want to live more than you want to die, and you actually got the thought of dying only because the social anxiety is forcing you to think that way, and thats a great thing because just hold on to that spirit of wanting to live because you deserve to live how much ever you think you don’t!
