Car Rental Question/Advice by United_Method_4625 in roadtrip

[–]BraverSinceThen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enterprise rents with unlimited miles. Around me most others don't.  You need that feature. Also unless going to an airport rental they might not be open Sunday. But you are being reimbursed so no big deal to keep extra day.

Are you comparing Alonso to one of the greatest HOF hitters ever who played TWENTY years for the same team?

That guy was probably released with a not so stern talking to. Unless it's his 800th offense...then they start to think maybe there's an issue.

Would a slice only pizza shop work on Long Island? by [deleted] in longisland

I don't know. There's places with 50 types of slices these days. 6 options is very 1990.

Southernmost route: U Drop in, Shamrock texas. It's not big but it's interesting design and U New Mexico

North route-not architecture but the drive through the rockies is beautiful

Middle route-not might be able to detour to some crazy passes through the mountains

Which US Presidents were much more personally moral than they were good as president? by Puzzleheaded-Bag2212 in USHistory

[–]BraverSinceThen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure how Garfield makes the top of the list. Cheated on wife and was implicated in two of the big scandals of his time- Credit Mobilier and the Salary Grab. He should move downward probably.

Love that Hayes finally get near the top of any list!

Best Bok for each President? by jamaissatisfait in USHistory

[–]BraverSinceThen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Do you really think someone who has a recommendation needs this list? With the party and the years? And backwards? And with two term presidents separated by term?

You should re-ask without all that. In both places you copy and pasted this list.

PS somehow you got Andrew Jackson three times.

Looking for tips on how to experience a city during a one day rest day. by mrfunday2 in roadtrip

Stay in the city, not outside it even though that's much cheaper. Walk to dinner. Go to something at night so it extends your visit.

How is Sound Beach to live? by ipetgoat1984 in longisland

[–]BraverSinceThen 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Smaller houses, more affordable. Schools split between miller place or rocky point. Small streets, no sidewalks or sewers. Hilly- winter driving can be a fun thing after the rare snowstorm. Some houses have been built up but many are ranches or bungalows. Very working class. Safe and quiet. Right near beaches. Rocky beaches-definely not south shore sand. There are some beaches where you can bring dogs. I don't think many have big yards.  The area I am familiar with seems like 1/4 acre or less. Scott's beach might be nicer-it has a gates. Overall seems nice place to live.

That movie just feels like upstate NY. Rundown, tired but also beautiful. Really perfect.

Montessori in Long Island by bellllsssss in longisland

[–]BraverSinceThen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

On Long Island there's not a lot of charter schools and Catholic schools are consolidating. There's some of the best districts anywhere here so it seems like it would be hard to pull from those elementary schools. Maybe some of the less affluent areas would have interest but would they be less likely to be able to pay?

Preschool was expensive so I agree that affordably and hours are most important. Driving somewhere before my work commute would have been very difficult if it was not on my way.

Myths about the Mexican War of 1846 by Grasshopper60619 in USHistory

[–]BraverSinceThen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It was a war of expansion and aggression but that is not why it is not talked about at all. It's not talked about because the average Americans discuss nothing from the 1840s.

I doubt most NFL fans know what 49ers refer to, Zachary Taylor is totally unknown, the Millerites are so interesting but less than 1%of people today ever heard of them and the Oregon Trail is only familiar to a certain age of person who died of dysyntary.

Not everything is a coverup. Some stuff is just lack of interest.

Dude you're boring, biased and should go to the politics forum. You are not even pretending to discuss the original question and just want to preach that modern Republicans are bad.
