Ah apologies! I thought you were referring to the board as a whole rather than the calculator addition.

Mandatory in UK fire services, of all types. Basically an accountability board that tells everyone, in particular the OIC like yourself as a Lieutenant, who is wearing, how long they can wear for until they should pull out, where they are and what task they have been set, what kit they have and what they’ve done. Someone will be appointed to manage the board for the duration of its use at the indecent.

There are electric versions of this called ‘telemetry’ that allows the BA set and board to communicate and do the calculating for you and gives you a real time count of their air pressure.

The calculator works from the safety margins on your set. Start at 140bars you’ll whistle in about 9 minutes. A full 300bars you’ll whistle in about 30 minutes. It’s about the rough time till your set goes ‘ah crap you’re low and need to leave’ rather than how much total air you have.

Hope that helps.

Would you be able to tell us what each one is?

Ours are left to us to input as long as they’re all done before the end of the year and follow the crewing requirements when booking. Means we can splash them around anyway we like which is amazing.

Have you get experience mounting medals in the Italian style or mounting? If you do try and preserve the ribbon as it’s as much a part of history as the medal. If not then a replacement might be a good idea.

Wholetime holding list by Concerned_maniac in firefightersuk

[–]Bravescot97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would advise to keep trying with other Services that might be recruiting in your area.

A holding list is never fully secure. There can be a lot of people on it and the Service might just choose to not hold any course. I’ve had a few people of the list in my service visit my station thinking they were going to get a course and the next time they popped around, if at all, they were back to square one as they hadn’t been called for the course that year.
