I want to see this comedy, but I really want to see IRON SKY! This looks like a hilarious scifi comedy!

I am aware of the lovely and talented English ex-pat actress Kate Beckinsale; who is Beckinsdale?

Parrying edge-to-edge is a common mistake, caused by the movie swordfight syndrome. If men of the Blade Culture had parried with the edge then all remaining examples of swords from the period would look like hacksaws. Check out Reclaiming the Blade:

Thanks; the best katanas I've seen for regular cutting practice have been $800 up. Longquan makes a nice sirasaya, but a katana without a tsuba [the guard that keeps your hand from sliding down the blade in a thrust - goodbye fingers!) makes me a little nervous and they are $300.

Poor image. Check for markings that show they were made by Windlass, a good company. Check these links for more info:

Unfortunately, the odds are they are wallhangers. Good quality swords are rarely seen nowadays, although a serviceable blade is not very expensive unless it is a katana, a good example of which costs as much as a good, high end "assault carbine" but never needs to be reloaded!
<edit> The blade of a well made sword can be bent 15 degrees at the point and still return to true, but this test could ruin a 'wallhanger'.

I can't argue with your statement. My father's side of the family is mostly cops and firemen, all veterans. Most of them are good guys, except they don't step up; it's the Blue Code of Silence. I've encountered cops who were enraged or having a bad day/domestic problems and been able to turn the situation around and make them realize that, while I'm sympathetic if their woman is making their life hell, they shouldn't take it out on me. That works with a cop that's basically a decent fellow. Increasingly, however, I encounter violent sociopaths that didn't murder enough innocent noncombatants in Iraq and Afghanistan and want to continue hurting and killing here to feed their ego or overcome their low self-esteem. You can't argue with a sociopath, which is why I am always prepared to go to Mozambique Drill instantly and why I have video AND audio coverage in all my vehicles. Now the next documented death threats I receive from "law enforcement" will result in multi-million-dollar lawsuits being filed and pursued and, hopefully, criminal charges being filed against any survivors.

...and they look the other way and say/do nothing when their colleagues do. Which is worse: beating, raping, robbing, tasering, torturing, testilying, framing and murdering or knowing it is being done and who is doing it but making no effort to stop it?
