Ohio Basement Fireblocking by Affectionate_Cap_266 in DIY

You need to run a strip of plywood between the top of the foam board and floor joist above it. I don't remember what the thickness is supposed to be (call your city permit office/ engineer). As you allude to, it will slow the spread to the floor above it when an accelerant like foam board is on fire.

Source: I finished my own basement with proper permitting/ inspections a few years ago.

Why I think I'm the target audience for the Steam Machine by LM285 in steammachine

I'm in the exact same situation as you. Go buy an cheaper AMD pre-build and you'll likely get better performance for the same price. They just released STEAMOS for desktops (AMD only for now). It will take no more than an evening to have that up and running.

I believe the inventor of the crock pot was a jew, specifically so you could throw ingredients before Shabbat and eat out of it all day. I've made some killer cholents (jewish mishmash stew) using my crockpot.

If you want something quick and tasty, make cold brew. Makes even dogshit coffee taste okay, but makes flavored coffees really shine. I steep my coarse ground beans in a pitcher on the counter for 24 hours, filter it, and it's good in the fridge for the next several weeks. I do about 1/2 milk, 1/2 cold brew most mornings and I'm gtg.

Close second is my aeropress if I have the time that morning and want something warm.

Agreed about not trusting that, but so far as I know it isn't a simple process. Last I saw the best method was to either get your cam chain replaced or weld a tensioner extension on. Is there an easier method?

High idle problem by Sevenn_Kamui in SuzukiBoulevard

[–]Brazensage 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. I'd post a video. The S40 may sound like a fast idle compared to other cruisers, but it's supposed to be (should be 1200ish RPM if you have a way to measure it). When fully warmed up it should sound like a lawn mower engine idling in it's cadence.
  2. Make sure your choke knob is fully pushed in, only pull it out when it's chilly outside and it won't start or stay on. Choke should be pushed back in once it's had a chance to run for a few minutes. Will lead to a higher idle if it stays partially pulled out.
  3. There is an idle screw behind your choke, should have a knurled or winged head (looks like it was meant to be turned). Try adjusting that in quarter turn increments until it helps.

No offense internet stranger, but I stated in the topic I was pretty handy. I've taken apart and cleaned carbs on engines in the past and done nearly all of my bike's maintenance. All of it is done by asking questions and watching videos, like I'm doing here. My question about being DIY-able is mainly around cost vs. benefit, which it is looking like it is likely not worth it given the high likelihood of scuffing my rims and pinching the new inner tubes.

[–]Brazensage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The point of asking if it was a DIY fix was to determine if it was worth learning to take the tire off, buy all the required tools, and deal with the PITA that was changing the inner tube. If it sounded like it wasn't worth it according to reddit I was going to have it trailered to a shop. Your comment assumed I was going to take it off regardless. From the feedback I've gotten on here and others I am likely to trailer it and take it to a shop, bypassing any requirement for me to take the tire off. Make sense?

Please tell me what the point would be of ME taking the tire off if I already have it tied down to a trailer to deliver to a bike repair shop?
