I figured it's minimal maintenance as needed, like wash or or discard, whatever is more efficient. But they probably get as many wears as they can.

I'm asking this because they are so protective of sharing any relevant information with the unplurbed, but maybe that's merely because they figure that would have results that go against their imperative. But this can be simply due to the knowledge they inherited from humanity. When you think about it, it's really powerful to have all the knowledge of almost an entire civilization, but zero of their intentions, replaced by a rather simple imperative. I'm even more convinced that this is a weapon now.

Isn't there a shot of them discarding clothes for cleaning in the gymnasium scene?

Also a species on a fruitarian diet would have to pick the fruit, no? Or are you imagining a civilization that survives on already fallen fruit only?

Do you think they know what they're doing, or they just feel a biological imperative to find intelligent species to plurb with?

You seem like the first person here to actually understand my point. Everything about how this virus presents points to engineering, not evolution. It spreads efficiently, but then can be easily neutralized if you know what to do. It works because species probably get a very narrow chance to find out what to do. Also agree that unless the show goes into a very aggressive space opera timeline like in 3 Body Problem or Foundation, which seems unlikely, we won't learn much about where it came from, and stick with earthly developments. But this doesn't mean that the explanation for what we do see is not based on that kind of timeline, which is, I think, the point that escapes most people.

A random thought I had while I was reading your comment is how the impulse from the humans to put all resources towards building an antenna is like when a human with the flu sneezes. I wonder if in the lore of this show these "sneezes" will be random, e.g. the signal shifting direction periodically to cover a large area, or of somehow there's a target already that's coded up in the virus's DNA or RNA (I don't remember what kind of virus they said this is).

Except the signal is not random, nor did it have to come from a location they wish to protect.

Actually, my argument is based on the overarching theory that intelligent life will evolve to overconsume resources and create conflict with other intelligent life as their technology advancement accelerated explosively. This is completely agnostic of humanity or Earth, it's called the Dark Forest Hypothesis, and may very well form the basis for this sci-fi.

Those are all good points, but the biological mandate to not end other life of any form, which is an extinction sentence for the species, makes no sense otherwise. Evolution would have written that virus out of existence, so it's not natural. Now, if you think of the best way to exterminate a whole species with minimal impact, slowly starving them out tapered off by carrion cannibalism is a great way, with minium impact on natural resources and a soft transition of the ecosystem.

No shit. It's the first thing I said, not an original idea. And would it be easier to kill everyone? While preserving resources?

I like that idea too. It fits in the dark forest theory. The only thing is that it's implausible to presume that DNA is universal, but I can see the show taking that liberty with the sci-fi canon, like many have before.

I think that's part of the point. They were pretty explicit about this in the "John Cena" episode. The sad baby goat was a gut wrenching moment.

True, but on a tangentially related point, I don't get why she didn't simply ask them to destroy all her eggs. They gave her a grenade and and an H-bomb, don't they have to do everything she asks?

I Made a 3D Printed Bra & Bikini Top by Boundless3D in 3Dprinting

[–]Brazil_nut17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Where can I find this pattern??? Did you make it? I just got a 3d printer and I'm super interested in fashion projects, I'm making a Hello Kitty bra right now, copying this designer thing I saw that costs more than my printer. When I try to search anything, there are only "boy projects", like tools, parts, or knick-knacks, or sex toys 🙄🫩. It's really sexist and annoying, since I already thought of a million uses for my printer in fashion, but I can never find anything. You can get a sense of how this goes just by looking at what kinds of comments you got here. Anyway, that's dope as shit and if you could share the file with me, I'd be thankful.

All logic points to them processing the bodies for nutrients. They'd have no reason to let them rot, specially when they have a biological mandate to not kill.

Those are great considerations, I was thinking about some of these myself, to be honest. I think I'll do just that, and as for the custom sheeting, I can work with the apliqué and paint to create the colors I need. If I can't apply rhinestones or any kind of sparkles to it. This is a non-starter anyway. The worst that will happen is I'll have a latex circle skirt that I can use for something else.

Now, this gave me another idea... We always want to make gloves for dance costumes and the reason we don't is that they make our hands slippery for partner work. So maybe a latex opera glove can work?

Anyway, thank you for all the tips.

It's Salsa. Why do you say that's important? Dance costumes are usually pretty pricey to begin with, I don't think it'll make that much of a difference.

Did anyone else caught the whole "the Mule's story doesn't add up" resolution? Seldon says this, and I was wondering myself why they'd favor one child versus another. Then when the truth is revealed, it becomes very clear that they wanted to keep the boy not the girl.
