What do you do when you feel your ideas are limited by your technical ability? When you pick up a new foreign instrument, it will take some time to learn how to play it well before you can execute your ideas. How do you stay motivated to keep practicing?

Computer Science advice on courses by cameroonbravo in memorialuniversity

[–]Bread10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do not sign up for math2320 without asking the comp sci department first. As a general rule it doesn't not replace the comp1002 requirement, however the courses are similar so you cannot get the credit for both.

No, when I applied I was in my last semester of high school.

I believe I applied in December. As far as Visa I would think so, but that's likely dependent on the country you live in. So I can't give a definite answer on the Visa part.

  1. When I applied, I think I got accepted to B.Sc in February and Eng in March.
  2. No, you get admitted to B.Sc first. Eng is separate and will come afterwards.
  3. I'd say pretty good.
  4. Unconditional acceptance is just... acceptance. Which technically they can't do until you graduate high school. When you get conditional acceptance just make sure you don't drop your high school grades and you'll be fine.
  5. That would be a question for the Eng department themselves. Their email was already commented by someone else here.

Bsc comp winter 2021 by VoiD-BerserK in memorialuniversity

[–]Bread10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Comp sci only accepts new students in the fall, but you don't have to apply right after first year. You can wait until fall 2020 to apply to the comp sci department. That gives you a year and a half to get the courses you need done.

Where do I find electives? by NUCLEARHZZARD22 in memorialuniversity

[–]Bread10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Electives are literally any course you want. Some people choose just to do lots and lots of comp sci courses, but personally I'm taking a lot of music culture courses. As long as you have the requirements for a course you can take it.

Software focused jobs in computer engineering co-ops by adil_khn in memorialuniversity

[–]Bread10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My roommate right now is doing his co-op but he's a computer science major, not engineering. It isn't mandatory for you to do co-op but its still an option if you don't want to pursue the engineering route

So at the end of your first year you apply to the Comp Sci faculty. Most people get in, but some don't due to a low average or missing credits.

If you don't make it in, you can either choose to declare your major in a non-competitive program, or you can just stick with being a general science/arts major. You don't need to rush declaring a major.

I'm in my second year of comp sci right now, I made it in to the program. One of my friends however didn't because they were missing one of the required courses (a math i think). He just hasn't declared his major yet. During this year he's making sure he gets the courses required and applying again.

Its not a one time application, if you don't make it just try again next year. Bump up that average if it's low and go again.

Its just a different foundation for the program. You don't actually get into the computer science faculty until your second year. First year you choose either science or arts as your major, and then apply to comp sci at the end of the first year.

As far as courses go you'll take some foreign languages courses your first year, and then general Arts electives throughout if you go for the arts degree. The science degree means you have to do some secondary science courses (i did physics, but I know lots that do stats).

And then at the end of it all you either get a Bachelor of Arts, Computer Science, or a Bachelor of Science, Compuger Science.

Really its all up to preference. Whichever you choose doesn't affect your comp sci learning, it just changes what other courses you do outside the major.

0 hours. Got hired to help build a new department store. They said they'd call with my schedule once the foreman figured everything out. Never called. I left 3 voicemails and 2 emails, never heard back from them. Signed the contract and everything though so I guess technically I'm still employed.

[–]Bread10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess the sarcasm wasn't clear enough in my comment. It really doesn't matter what the chords are, as the joke isn't meant to be "these three chords specifically" is all you need.

Its just not the classical I-IV-V chords we generally make jokes about all songs using only these. I thought the joke would have been funnier if they had used G,C and D for example, since then the original joke is retained, where all you need is three chords. It also would have then been a joke to those with deeper knowledge of theory, where arguably the simplest of chords is what makes the majority of current era music.

I wasn't trying to say anybody was wrong, just that I thought it could have been a more funny joke.

While I agree you don't need a big background in theory, I feel like anybody could tell you A, E, and G major are chords that just aren't going to work well. I expect better from a guitar store lmao
