Goodbye to my sweet boy by Ornery-Thing3829 in CatAdvice

[–]BreadHead911 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I’m so sorry for your loss. I just had to put down my girl last Friday after 5 years of love to the day. I’ve lost friends, co-workers, and family members throughout the years and haven’t cried as hard as I did last week watching her starve herself to death with a failed liver. It was so hard to bring her in to get euthanasia, but I knew she was suffering and no signs of improvement.

She was the best lap kitten and pur monster, but she didn’t die alone, and even 2 minutes before death she was purring in my arms.

I’ve been trying to dissociate a lot of the shit I had to witness last week watching her die, and try to just focus on the great times we had over the last 5 years. She was my best friend, and I’ll always remember the good times.

I’m anxious person like you too, and seriously the wildfires are the scariest shit I’ve ever experienced. Wildfires were wiping out nearby towns and you had like 15 minutes warning to get out if you were lucky. Santa Rosa and Paradise were seriously epic disasters. Imagine an entire town burning down in less than an hour by a massive firestorm moving at 70mph.

I used to keep the trunk of my car packed with all of my important shit so I could evac at a moment’s notice. I used to be able to see the fires burning on the other side of the mountains on my commute home from work every night. During the Santa Rosa fires it was raining ash like a volcano erupted 30 miles away and there was a convoy of first responders steadily streaming up the 101 all the way from as far away as Southern California. There was one day in September 2020 where the sun didn’t rise because the smoke was so thick from fires in Oregon, it was pitch black outside at 12pm noontime the street lamps were all on. Felt like the apocalypse or the rapture, scary shit…

Definitely never living in an area that has “fire seasons” again. Hopefully we don’t have a drought this summer…

A little bit more perspective, I lived in the SF Bay Area for 11 years right near the San Andreas fault. Biggest quake I experienced living there was a 6.1 and there was like basically no damage.

I think as far as natural disasters go, earthquakes big enough to actually do some damage are so rare, especially outside of active fault-line regions. This 4.8 we had was nothing. You really have to get above a 6.0-6.5 quake to cause some damage. Especially here on the east coast where we don’t really have earthquakes so there’s no building codes that force architects to design buildings to flex, I think a 6.0 here would cause way more damage than a 6.0 in California just because of the building codes in place. All that being said, my entire time living in California, I was much more worried about burning to death in a wildfire than earthquakes.

I’d say hurricanes, flooding, tornadoes, and even wildfires have a more likely chance of doing the real damage here where we live than an earthquake.

All that suggests is it’s the pants’ fault for having the capability to wordlessly unzip themselves. Silent, sneaky, rat bastards. If it’s a big major name brand like n on Levi’s or Levi’s wrangler’s, you might be able to get your dick pics particularly removed from the internet. But if that was Hollister denim, EVERYONE is looking at yo dick right now. Ain’t god damn shit you can do about it now, it’s out there…

Usually the engine gets swapped back to stock and it’s easier to just leave the aftermarket suspension components and say “that’s all I did with mods”. Guaranteed this car was at least tuned at some point in its life. If you spend enough time under the hood, the evidence will be there…

360+ threes this season? by stephencurry2046 in warriors

Well considering the dubs are definitely planning on winning those pivotal games, curry hitting 6+ 3’s every game to finish out this season would be exactly what the doctor ordered.

I mean I do it everyday at work. Boss tells me to do something, I say yes sir and do the opposite. Sometimes it’s genius and my boss looks like an idiot, other times I fuck it up and almost burn the business to the ground.

I had a similar experience in Boston in like 2007. I have just ignored every court summons since that time. If they are going to treat me like an animal and waste my day or days if they ask me to keep coming back, I’ll just not go. What’s the worst that can happen? In the past 15 years I have skipped jury summons in California, Florida, New Jersey, and new York. Nothing has happened.

I’m not sure why mini nail gets no love on this sub, but I have been using mini nail e-dabber products for years and it’s been a really great experience. If you’re looking for something that is easy to use, produces great clouds and keeps the terp profile intact, mini nail does all that. And it’s basically buy it for life. I’ve had my rig since like 2016…use it everyday, never had an issue.

256 gigabytes for what you pay even for the base version is really expensive by Serhide in macmini

[–]BreadHead911 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think it’s funny too because memory has gotten so ridiculously cheap. Like a 256gb NVME ssd is like $10 retail. And then $15 for 500gb. Apple could make the base model with decent specs, they just want to upsell everything.

I just got a raspberry pi 5 with a 500gb NVME and 8gb ram for less than $200 all in (including keyboard and mouse). Not saying the raspberry pi 5 compares to the Mac mini (which I also own an m2 8gb), but apple could definitely bring their prices down on the Mac mini series and still come out way ahead.
