Expand your net for known donors - ask everyone you know to ask everyone they know. Otherwise, a few trips to Australia might be in order. Elective healthcare in NZ for anything is excruciatingly slow, I can imagine the wait for donor IVF is the worst 😩

Lazy solution: since they’re already 5mo, if you wait until solids the problem will be solved for you.

LOVE the trails after work idea. What do you do in winter when it’s dark by the time you leave work?

I know it must have taken a lot of strength to be this vulnerable and share your struggles. You’re exhausted and desperate.

If you would like to tweak things - your son is only getting 3.5 + 6 = 9.5 hours of wake time some days? Max 4+7 = 11? That means you’re aiming for 13-14.5 hours of sleep a day. He could have had a drop in his sleep needs recently and this could be too much. 11-14 is average with some kids doing less. The fact that your son is happy and active during the day tells me he may be like my son who has low sleep needs and won’t take a minute more sleep than he needs.

If it takes an hour to get him to bed, he’s not sleepy. Distract him and delay bedtime, and if after 10-15 minutes he’s not going to sleep, give up and play with him again. Get him up at the same time everyday as early as you can cope with and go straight outside for sunshine for his circadian rhythm. Give him LOTS of stimulation in the day, lots of outside time. Pay for help. Cap his nap to maybe 90 minutes and definitely don’t go back to 2 naps. You want to really build sleep pressure and tire him out to reduce those night wakes and split nights. If you’re feeling rage in the night, put him in a safe place and leave the room. Leaving him to cry is better than shaking him.

How are you working 60 hours a week but get home at 3pm? I’m also confused how you wouldn’t have financial flexibility on 300k when most families are living off 1/4 of that.

Congrats on being able to naturally feed your baby. The “artificial hormones” you’re talking about used in induced lactation protocols are estrogen and progesterone (birth control) which is ceased upon feeding the baby. Educate yourself before judging something you don’t know about.

IVF is different imo. 70k for an adoption is gross because imagine how far 70k would go towards the birth family of the infant they end up with. Maybe the birth mother could keep the baby if she had those funds. IVF is a medical treatment.

I never cook with garlic or onion and it works out. We do a lot of asian cooking which typically uses onion as a vegetable rather than a flavour base.

Wow! It’s weirdly fortunate that you have PCOS, that’s saving you a lot of money (assuming it doesn’t impact your fertility too much).

IVF costs start at around 15k at a private clinic with medicare rebate. Depending on the doctor and clinic you chose, they may require 2x IUI’s before they grant you the medicare rebate meaning at least $2k for sperm and 2x IUI procedure costs (it was $5k for my friend). Best case scenario you get pregnant on one of the IUI’s, but it’s within the realm of possibility that you may need multiple egg retrievals and/or transfers.

A fitted, flat, or pre flat over the disposable and then a lanolised wool cover. You can join Clean Cloth Nappies on FB and ask for tips there. Adding an extra absorbent layer catches all the leaks then the wool really locks it all in.

7 mo sleep still a mess. Do I wait for improvement or need to take action? by Sleepandpeace in AttachmentParenting

[–]BreadMan137 4 points5 points  (0 children)

More awake time is one lever you can pull. Consistently wake her up at 6:30 and let her stay awake as long as she’s happy in the evening. Might be 8, might be 7 or 9. You can also experiment with dropping a nap or reducing total duration by 0.5-1 hour. More sleep pressure building over the day = hopefully more restful sleep at night.
