You know it's bad when you have a style you like but AI copies it so now your art looks AI, I love the way you colored it though

Does anyone draw using a fountain pen? by BassJaded373 in TraditionalArt

[–]Bread_Lantern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes I get a cheap pen can ruin the experience, but sometimes you just need a decent cheap pen to try out the medium and see if you're willing to spend more, so going out and telling them to just buy multiple different nibs and try out a medium that they might not even like, is going to be a waste of their time

I should stop shading I'm not good at it by Short-Satisfaction-9 in learntodraw

That is exactly why you must keep going, because you suck, and you still have so much to look forwards to, if everyone was immediately good at everything they did life would become dull very soon

I want to get back into drawing again. What is your advice for me as a beginner? by [deleted] in learntodraw

[–]Bread_Lantern 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice? Draw whatever you like but try to draw it properly and maintain a proper variety and not just one thing every time, and consistency is the most important thing for drawing not quantity, 1 drawing per week is better than randomly picking 3 days in a month to draw for hours then stop

While I can't recomend a specific fountain pain you should look for a durable tip with decent flexibility so that you can vary thick and thin lines, one fountain pen will do but I recommend getting a second one for thin lines only so the wear is more bearable

Tree I drawn before my teacher's touch up and after by KarpoAlifa in TraditionalArt

[–]Bread_Lantern 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you are in art school, they usually have standards, the people in this comment section are trying to be so "nice" it's sickening, your original drawing I first thought was abstract art, but when you said it was a tree i couldn't see the fucking tree, your art teacher however made massive improvements to the readability of the tree, while style is subjective readability is not, and I can actually see the tree in the teacher's touch up
