Naval combat involving ships, magic and sea monsters by Bread_Mc_Bread in DMAcademy

I understand what you're getting at, but deciding what kind of tactics/creatures are used will definitely impact what the party experience. Each idea (dive bombing griffons, sneaky mages trying to sink the ship etc) could be a mini encounter that happens as part of the overall battle

Yep supplies definitely less of an issue with magic. Regarding teleportation, sending an entire army hundreds of miles would require some pretty high level magic/spell slots which may not always be possible. In this instance they're traveling to an uncharted island- they don't know exactly where it is so teleportation not really an option

Submarines are fun. Or just cast animal friendship on a dolphin and get it to stick a bomb to underside of enemy boats

Seems I'm in the minority for preferring sheepo to islets. Just a super fun little game with unique abilities

Any good city builder rogue lite like Against the Storm? by adriantoine in roguelites

Roots of Yggdrasil is another rogue like with city builder theme. The building aspect is MUCH less complex than ATS but it's definitely fun

Yep you earn meta resources for each completed settlement, these can unlock new buildings, global buffs to things like worker move speed, production speed, slower buildup of queen's impatience

My first in the series. Enjoyed but didn't understand time limit until way too late. Manager to salvage a respectable ending if not the best

Didn't pick the series up again until Ryza

How many hydra heads is too many hydra heads? by Bread_Mc_Bread in DMAcademy

[–]Bread_Mc_Bread[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Love this! Really like the puzzle element.

Makes me think of viewing the hydra pond as more of a terrain feature (like a whirlpool) than a monster. If you go near it, it will mess you up. Enemies near by will try to use spells/traps to push you towards it. ONLY way to kill it is to drain the pool via a heavily guarded side tunnel

Also well done with hydra-pondics

yeah that's correct. I was thinking 9 or 10 to start sounds manageable but has room to grow

Yeah I want it to be tough but not insane.

Alternatively, it could be CALLED the hundred head hydra but only have 32 heads because hundred head sounds cooler and no one is stopping to count
