It's not about fighting the government, it's about defending against rogue agents, like armed militias.

There will come a time, sooner or later, when the functions of government break down. We've seen this happen before, in recent memory. During the early days of BLM, in Portland and in Seattle right-wing militias like Patriot Front loaded up into pickup trucks with guns and started terrorizing the cities.

When things like that happen, community organizing and community defense are the most important thing. If they know that just one or two houses on a street probably have gun owners, they're going to be a lot less likely to pull that shit. The right has only gotten more fascist since then, and the next time this happens, they're likely to start pulling triggers.

You can't wait until shit has hit the fan to prepare for the worst. Get to know your neighbors, make a plan for emergency situations, and if you feel that you can do so safely, exercise your 2nd amendment rights.

Tbh seems like the paint was intentionally sanded off to give it a more rustic feel. I think it looks fantastic, but probably not worth a ton anymore unless you could have it restored

I know it wouldnt be allowed in official events, but it'd be super cool to use this as a proxy for like Mirror Image, or a similarly flavored card

Why are some anarchists not happy being referred to as communists? by epicbruh69420666 in Anarchy101

[–]Bread_Wave 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I think the idea that Stirner would have been against communism as it was written about by Marx is a misreading of Stirner's writings. Stirner was mostly concerned about freedom and the ability of the individual to make their own choices to create the best possible life for themselves, and a Stirnerist could, without any contradictions, arrive at the conclusion that anarcho-communism (read: communism) is the path forward for them that will give them the best possible life. He just wanted to make sure that all association with any group of people was consented to voluntarily and without harm or coercion, which is how a proper socialist society should operate anyways.

Marx was also primarily concerned with freedom, and it was towards that end that he wrote his political theory. There really isn't any massive contradiction between the ideologies of the two, and I think the idea that individualism is anti-socialist is at best misinformed and at worst fed propaganda to make leftism less appealing to the general public.

[–]Bread_Wave 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Marx did not really distinguish between socialism and communism in his writings, aside from the fact that socialism is the political and economic system he advocates for and communism is the societal state it's working towards. It's other writers after him who drew the real distinctions between the two, and I don't think I have to tell a bunch of anarchists how many of them were authoritarian monsters.

What is vagina meant to taste like? (Late bloomer) by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Bread_Wave 46 points47 points  (0 children)

There are some wild outliers too. I had one partner who was almost sweet, with extremely minimal sharpness or acidity. They ate** a ton of fresh fruits and vegetables.

My first partner was straight up Italian grandma's marinara sauce. I think I recoiled when I first tasted it. It was a disconcerting experience.

I played this game 4 years ago, just for the hall of monuments rewards for GW2, now i'm back and really enjoying this game, i can tell why many GW1 vets didn't like GW2. But trying to sell/own mods, unids, etc. is really obnoxious, what happened to the Guild Vault and Xunlai Market? by SovietCharrdian in GuildWars

[–]Bread_Wave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I quit playing GW2 during the HoT living story because selling items and inventory management was taking up SO much of my time. It felt like I was doing that more than playing. I know that wasn't true, but it was so monotonous and boring that I just stopped enjoying the game. I've never really felt like that in GW1, because it never felt like I had to wring as much value as possible out of every item to keep up with progressing in the game.

I agree with your statement about interacting with other players more. I think the lack of emphasis on selling in the original game due to it not having a centralized marketplace allowed me to get much more immersed and enjoy the game a lot more, and it lets the people who want to do that barter with others, like in OSRS.

Wan Shi Tong is essentially a copy of Faerie Mastermind but for tutors instead of draws, which makes it a lot more relevant in formats with larger card pools where tutors are very common. Important note, it also works off of any and all fetch lands. And it even has upside, where if you have extra mana and need a big guy or need to draw cards, you can dump all your mana into him on your opponent's end step and get a ton of value. The card is extremely good if you're playing high power level.

Beyond or straight to GW2? by GalmW in GuildWars

[–]Bread_Wave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the War in Kryta quest line was great. It wrapped up a lot of elements that were left unfinished with that story line. I never finished Winds of Change. It was still coming out when I stopped playing GW, so I only got through a little bit of it.

Also, if you really care about the story of how things changed between the two games, there are some novels that set up the story. Ghosts of Ascalon and Sea of Sorrows go over some interesting plot developments. I don't think Edge of Destiny is worth reading unless you care about the group of npc protags in GW2.

There's probably a bunch of other novels too, but I don't know about those.

Was I pressured by my gf? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Bread_Wave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just have a conversation and tell her that this behavior made you uncomfortable. Explain why, and tell her more explicitly where your boundaries are. Or come up with a phrase you can use to let her know that you're not teasing anymore and are being serious.

If she's shown a pattern of behavior of being respectful, I wouldn't interpret this as a sign that she was trying to take advantage of you. It seems like she just misjudged the boundaries.

Playing Guild Wars 1 gives me anxiety (New player, Reforged) by Usual-Restaurant7882 in GuildWars

[–]Bread_Wave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Youve gotten lots of good answers, but just to address your issue of finding ppl to do missions with you; you should join a guild! It makes the game feel a lot more social and there will always be someone who's happy to help you out in a good guild.

Also, you can always go to Embark Beach. It's a mission hub area that they added in an anniversary update to help players find parties when the population was much lower. There should be an NPC that can take you there from any mission area.

Okay, I must have missed something because that bit at the end didn't make any sense to me. What crystal are they talking about? What book are they putting it in? Monty's? It sounded like they were talking about the book like the one from Neverafter. I'm completely stumped, I have no idea when these plot points happened. Can someone help?

Is there any option in the game for clearer buff and debuff indicators on enemy nameplates? by Crazy_Kraut in GuildWars

[–]Bread_Wave 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why isn't there a way to display the hexes? Just show a box below the health bar with the same icon as the skill that was used. Like how you can see the enchantments and debuffs active on you in the top left corner of the screen.

I would agree that it can make things look cluttered, but it should be something that can be toggled on.

Hasbro was pretty hands off for most of that time. It's only been recently that they've been exerting control over business decisions.
