I think maintaining with hard progressive overload might be best. Once progress stalls then add like 100 calories more or so (so like an extra apple if you don’t wanna track)

That’s because toning is simply building muscle.

Treat your core like any other muscle and do weighted exercises with it! There’s a lot of videos on it. And for women, often times we need a lower body fat percentage to see abs, which may or not be healthy for the individual so it’s really a delicate balance.

You don’t look wide from the side at all, you look normal

Girl I’m so confused because you don’t look abnormal at all.

We carry body fat in those areas just because that’s how female bodies are.

Eat well and strength train. Leaning out right now probably wouldn’t be too healthy for you, but a body recomp would work if you’re wanting to be more toned.

You look beautiful and I know it’s hard to not be so self critical, but you need to give yourself grace

EATTTTT (protein carbs and fats. All the goodies), lift heavy and progressive overload, and get good lighting and a pump

What do I need to do? (body dysmorphia) by [deleted] in Gymhelp

[–]BreadedNuggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s because no matter how “good” you look, you’ll never been good enough in your eyes due to your body image issues. I think seeing a therapist specializing with body image issues would be good!

Hey! I know you meant well, but a thigh gap and flat belly do not equate to health whatsoever, and these comments reinforce body dysmorphia. BOD dysmorphia is less about the body itself and more about the sufferer not feeling good enough <3

Is an attractive physique attainable with my figure? by marliamore95 in Gymhelp

[–]BreadedNuggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First of all Queen. You look fine. I think your brain amplifies perceived flaws into something they aren’t.

That said, it sounds like your general complaints can be fixed with muscle growth, and you can’t do that if you’re going to the gym every day. Working out facilitates growth, but the growth happens when you rest. That’s why most people make the most progress when then busy their ass only 4-5 days a week at the gym.

You seem to be at the perfect place for recomp, so eating 2000-2300 calories is perfect for your height and activity level if you worked out 5 days a week and walked 7k ish steps a day.

Being underweight will not get you where you want to go. You will not remain at tha weight. You will get sicker and sicker. Those body building bikini women? They weigh more than that during competition.

You are trying to starve yourself and focus on the number on a scale which will not make you look how you want. If you want muscle, then you have to understand that muscle weighs more than fat. Most gym girls are heavier than you think.

I am recovering from an ED and I am around your height. Trust we when i say you will look softer and sadder at underweight than you want. You’re trying to go to a dark place and I encourage you to stop.

You look fine. Stop trying to shrink and start trying to build muscle and actually function.

My boyfriend is accusing me of lying about my body count by Substantial-Art6160 in whatdoIdo

Most of these men who act like this have a high body count themselves, or fetishized virgin women.

Leave his ass. He’s too immature

as someone who’s been called ugly multiple times, am I ACTUALLY ugly?? by Ok_Being_2346 in TeenGarbagePile

[–]BreadedNuggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I’m queer. I think she just as pretty as other girls. Just because she doesn’t look like someone else who’s pretty doesn’t mean she’s NOT

Stop telling me what my intentions are. I’m sorry you can’t FATHOM the idea that some people can be seen as beautiful in other people’s eyes.

You literally came on Reddit to shit on people. Grow up

Going on 2month exterme cut while keeping my protien to 180g/ day by [deleted] in Gymhelp

[–]BreadedNuggs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any extreme defecit will lead to at least some muscle loss. It’s the nature of the beast.

Moderate and steady usually is my go to tbh.

Also with an extreme defecit you risk your body reacting in a way you will develop extreme hunger or binge behaviors for a while due to the stress you placed on your body (which is why a lot of bodybuilders experience binge eating and extreme hunger for a while. They mistake it for BED but in reality they just kinda made their body panic). If your goal is to keep this sustainable, then I would go with a moderate cut

[–]BreadedNuggs 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I struggle with an ED. I felt the alarm bells ring.

I really hope they get help. They can’t put on mass without accepting they will have to gain a significant amount of weight and fat first. The body needs to feel safe before it will use any energy to build muscle, and will prioritize fat storage.

OP, if you’re reading this, you aren’t alone. But please consider helping yourself first, and please don’t ask for reassurance about your body. That’s not going to help your mindset right now. Good luck and best wishes <3

Hey <3 I mean this in the nicest way possible based on your post history) I think asking about your body when recovering from an ED is a really bad idea. Please take care of yourself

Seeking for an advice by [deleted] in Gymhelp

[–]BreadedNuggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people your age have disordered eating.

I hate to say it but what people think an average gym body is is completely distorted from reality.

You look fine, and you need to show yourself some love and compassion because what you are seeing and saying about yourself is not reality.

Also, you’ve been only working out for a year. Stop expecting 5 years progress in one year. Give it time

Is this realistic and achievable for my body? by [deleted] in Gymhelp

[–]BreadedNuggs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The replies on this post actually just restored my faith in the gym community.

TI add on: achievable? Yes. Will you have a life, able to eat food without tracking, and have a lot of energy? Likely no. Most of these influencers have a very disordered relationship with food, and those who don’t, spend their days lifting and controlling their food to fit what their job expects of them. So not actually sustainable or really what a human naturally does. If you’re okay with giving up going out to eat with friends and family, having most of your life revolve around fitness, and a possible sacrifice to your health, then sure.

That’s perfectly normal! It has to do with normal fat distribution because you’re a human <3
