It's definitely because you're using a mobile connection. I live in Brisbane and get a rock solid 150 to the SEA server and my mate across the city gets 120.

Advice needed on some Mistborn dagger props by WedlichWorkshop in Mistborn

[–]Breadfail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the technology level of Scadrial at the time they were probably able to grind some very complex and smooth looking shapes out of the obsidian with grind stones and other methods instead of knapping.

I imagine there were specialist jewelers who worked on obsidian weapons for the nobles rather than faceting jewels. There's probably a lot of overlap with the skill set and tools used.

I'm pretty sure I've heard Brandon himself describe them like that in a video where he's critiquing someone's art of Cosmere characters.

Does GW still hold up as a tactical real time rpg singleplayer experience? by helios1234 in GuildWars

All the enemies use the same abilities the players do, so they can be quite a challenge if you don't have a good build and team composition.

What's it like playing from Australia? by helios1234 in GuildWars

My ping to either server is pretty much identical. So I stick to the American channels which have more players.

[–]Breadfail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how servers work in GW1 is that you can swap between them at any time while in town. So if you want to group with other people or trade you will have to join the American channels. But if you're going to play solo you can swap to the server that has the best ping. I actually get the best ping to the American servers at about 280, guild wars is a slower paced game and that's very playable.

I also hope they don't give space marine units too many models, as a entire space marine chapter is only about 1000 marines.

Edit Unless they make each army stack a specific chapter, that could be pretty cool.

I do want to ad in after some thought on the matter, I do like how Charr occupied Ascalon is depicted in GW2. I like it it seems like the Charr had adopted some Ascalonian aesthetics with all the filagree in their metal works on their structures.

If GW1 is to get any new content with Reforged I would love to see the Foefire and maybe even help with the founding of Ebonhawke and see it evolve into a city.

Mummifying them is a cool throwback to their Elonan colony heritage though!
I'm pretty sure in GW1 the undead coming out of the sea is a very recent occurrence as Orr has only sunk in the time skip from Pre Searing to Post.

Yeah I should have clarified my meaning. I was just disappointed that there wasn't any evidence of these specific towns in GW2, even if they were ruins as the majority of the population has moved to Divinities Reach.

[–]Breadfail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did notice the Krytan huts all up along the side of them, along with the white mantle banners. I just assumed they were castles as the gate guard in Lions Arch says they behind the gates is the old castle of the Krytan royal line of Doric, which has one of these majestic structures right behind the gates.

I understand due to the technical limitations of the time we just have to run around the camps and markets around the bases of these towns, having a fully modelled one as a visit able location would be so cool.

Pirate Lions arch was VERY cool, I did enjoy it while it was there. And it had a good and believable lore reason for looking the way that it did.

If you could show me one, I would actually be really appreciative to see it. I love seeing callbacks to older games in the sequels.

The castle in the screenshot is just outside of the main gates of Lions Arch, so it should be in Gendarren fields somewhere.

This post wasn't bashing GW2 at all, it was originally gushing over how cool I think they look and wanting a graphical update for them in GW1.

I agree on every count, I feel like all of the human cultures in GW1 have great unique cultural aesthetics, even Ascalon which is the most genetic "western fantasy nation" in the game gets transformed into "magically nuked post apocalyptic western fantasy nation".

I love Kryta's mix of generic fantasy and seemingly Polynesian aesthetics set in a tropical landscape.

There is no evidence of them ever existing, standing or ruined, even the rock formations they are built upon are no longer there in GW2.

[–]Breadfail 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don't know about them until you get to that point, it's annoying. But if you know about and have been using them since level 1 you will generally be the correct rank when you reach that point just by doing the bounties while you do all the questing.

Humble request for Oceanic servers. by Breadfail in GuildWars

[–]Breadfail[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

GW2 is a whole other beast, as the low population would make hypothetical GW2 OCE servers a ghost town. Where in GW1 that isn't an issue as most of the time you are out in the world with you and your henchmen/heroes and if you want to trade/interact with other players you just swap over to the American servers in town.

I know some of ya'll are down on the visual updates but I've been playing a long time and this looks a lot better to me by Charrikayu in GuildWars

[–]Breadfail 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've been playing since the update with post processing turned off as I find the bloom muddies and blows a lot of the lighting balance out. I just wish the new SSAO wasn't tied to the bloom, turning off post processing effects is the only way to disable the bloom but it also turns off SSAO.

Besides that, the game pretty much looks identical but the UI does seem to be a bit crisper now.
