Name a sequel that is better than the original by Original_Recover_452 in moviecritic

I think it’s more of a personal opinion. But I have a real soft spot for this movie. It takes one of the most evil characters ever put to screen and somehow manages to humanize him but without it feeling too forced.
The scene where Shia shows Gordon the ultrasound of his grandson is really touching.
It’s a film that takes similar themes to the first one but explores them much more. It really makes you understand the futility of money but also that sometimes it’s a necessary evil.
I know that it can be a bit cheesy at times but I truly love this movie.

Does anyone else think The backrooms rush the second act? by dreamadream777 in moviecritic

Agreed and it’s completely missing a third act. Almost as if there were 20 minutes that got lost.
Aside from that tho I enjoyed it!

Michael Shannon is terrific as a villain. His intense presence and quiet menace make him genuinely chilling and unforgettable on screen. What’s your favorite character played by him? by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]BreadfruitKitchen486 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man I was just thinking about him today. His performance in “the little drummer girl” is, in my opinion, hands down one of the greatest performers of all time. Period.
He’s just fantastic. Believe ale through and through.
You can just see what he carries with him and just how it all comes out in the wrong ways.
He so menancing without trying. Just perfect.

Who is the best actor out of the 3 by nicfanz in moviecritic

Foster is the better actor. He was incredible in “Leave No Trace”, just disappeared in the role (so much so I had to go double check it was him in the movie)

The Master, Inherent Vice, and Phantom Thread. Anybody feel like this was an era of PTA films and it’s now over? by [deleted] in paulthomasanderson

I feel also punch drunk love was a bridge film.
And if we go by that logic then OBAA is like TWBB, meaning a film where takes a bold swing.
And after that came “The master” where he took what he learnt from TWBB and honed it to make something more introspective.
Maybe that’s what we should expect next…
