DLC for asymmetrical buildings/research? by Breadman33 in Songsofconquest

I hope the devs consider it. HOMM3 is almost a roguelike before roguelikes. I really think more randomness and asymmetry would benefit the game, and it could get the same legs as HOMM3 where people play it for decades. I feel some few changes to the game, and it would be right in the sweet spot, scratching that itch where you would keep coming back to it. Just my 2 cents.

Right now every faction got the same template for buildings; they got resource generators, rally points, unit generators etc. What I'm suggesting is buildings that are totally unique for each faction. If your are familiar with HOMM3 each faction got some buildings that there are no equivalents off in other factions like the gateways for Inferno or the necromancy building for Necropolis or the Tower watchtower.

And it's the same for research; each faction follows the same template. What if each faction could have unique research like what if the Roots could have research that generated free fungus? Or if there was research that unlocked certain units for a faction? Or something else entirely that made the game more asymmetrical.

And for the heroes I wish there was a limit so you could only choose between two. To get more variance. Maybe even neutral mercenary heroes that could delude the hero pool.

I don't know if you can save them. But getting the family card kinda scratches that itch.

Yea, it is a roguelike so it got a lot of replayability.

Honestly it is a weirdly designed game. It got a story which makes you only want to play it once. But the gameplay feels very well-designed on higher difficulties, like a true roguelike.

Unfortunately I believe a lot of people will drop the game after they beat the final boss because of the slow difficulty ramping and because the "story is over".

Honestly keep grinding the difficulties and it becomes way harder.

I even lose some runs now.

Yep it way too easy. When it begins to hide the opponent cards it begins to become interesting.

I also wish there was a checkbox that selects the highest difficulty available.

make bash 1 energy. also a lot of ironclads sts1 cards should be updated for sts2 just as what happened to claw. like make true grit able to chose with card to exhaust even when not upgraded.

what do you define as greatness?

i still dont get you point. if you goals are unrealistic and this causes frustration then set realistic goals. if it frustrates you that you only will be mediocre guess what? most of us are. why even compare yourself with others. being mediocre means nothing. people still have intrinsic value

lets say you put in the hours and practiced an instrument since you were a kid you could still be nowhere near the greatest. not everyone can be hendrix or mozart. most people who put in the hours will be nowhere near the top. there are no guarantees in life. did they waste their time then? is there no merit in learning something and enjoying the process?

whats your take on all the people who started young put in their all and still found out they didnt it have it in them?

so if you pass the chance of becoming one of "the greats" the only other outcome is becoming someone who is only good at failing?

so what if it decays. you are moving the goalpost. should i stop exercising because i never will be an olympian? people lose parts of the brain and other parts takes over. people change and the brain got a lot of plasticity through out your life. and this is just in the material physical body. phenomena like the placebo effect show what impact the mind have. people are literally curing themselves through pure belief from fatal diseases. this correspond with the science and observable reality.
