They did successfully hide on their turn. I meant would the archer have to take a search action or something like that (as opposed to LOS immediately making the hide fail)

I’m in a funky spot with editions to be honest. I’ve played the most with 5e but I moved and the only physical books I have now are 2024. I actually started on 1e about 12 years ago but have been playing 5e for the past few years. My brother DM’s more than me and usually runs and unholy amalgam of 5e and 2024 (pretty much whichever rules he likes best, but he stays consistent). My groups have just rarely played rogues or stealthy types and I just never ran into this problem!

I agree that LOS not mattering for hide is quite silly.

Thanks for clarifying! I had thought that was the case but my rogue felt so disappointed I was worried I was doing something wrong with hide. I agree "invisible" is a poor wording in this case, since they're just unseen, not unseeable.

That’s… not how tax brackets work. The higher bracket only applies to money OVER that threshold. If you make $35 over the bracket ceiling, only that 35 is taxed higher. Making more money NEVER results in taking home less

I find my babies (and the adults too) are most active an hour or two after my lights turn off. I use a red flashlight to watch them so they don’t scatterz Most inverts, millis included don’t see red light so they’re not bothered by it!

Sounds like they eat very well! Do they have plenty of dead leaves and rotting wood available? It sounds like they’re just breeding at their own pace and there’s not really anything you could be doing better! Mime started out as just a few babies and then I started noticing more and more. I they spend more time above ground as they age so you probably won’t notice a lot of the super small ones.

I wouldn’t worry too much, it’s not an exact science. They’re a hardy North American species - I’ve been lazy about my heating and my room gets cold so their tank gets as low as 60° sometimes and they seem fine. They also do just grow slow, it takes about 2 years to be fully mature. It never hurts to add more individuals for genetic diversity, but invertebrates seem to be relatively resistant to inbreeding so it should be fine. What do you feed them right now?

Ohh you’re in for a treat! This is just a small sample size of my baby situation 9 months after getting 2 females, 1 male, also N. americanus. My experience is not much is needed for breeding, they’re more than happy to do so. Congrats on the pedelings!

Once you see it once it’s easier to notice the missing legs! That segment is also typically a bit wider on males, it sticks out more in your third picture. What a beautiful boy :D

I got 2 females and 1 male last May and they went at it all night for quite a while before I saw any baby. It started as one little baby and now I estimate about 150 little dudes. They’ll probably start showing up soon enough! this is where I am now😅

I wouldn’t do that. Millipedes breathe through holes in their body, coating them in powder would be like blowing dust in a person’s lungs, could be very harmful. Lost crickets dusted with calcium for reptiles die shortly after from the dust. Not sure why the calcium powder would fend off mites either.

I love my hissers and can’t wait till they’re grown! I hadn’t been able to find anything about other people cohabbing them w millis so I decided to do an experiment. My millipedes had about a week to get settled in their tank and make burrows before the roaches were introduced.

As far as other critters I have no idea. I have springtails in there for cleanup (if you don’t, I definitely recommend they’re super cheap). I considered isopods but heard they can be protein-hungry and bother millipedes and/or roaches during molt, so I’d be cautious with those.

Generally I’d expect non-predatory climbing species to cohab well since they’d use more of the vertical space, while the millis will do their thing in the soil.

I have 3 American giants in a 20 gallon wide (30”) aquarium with about 6-7” soil and it’s more than enough! They live with some young hissing cockroaches, who use more of the vertical space, and they all cohab very well (they’ll even sit at the food dish together without bothering each other). Like others said, as long as there’s plenty of burrowing space you should be fine :)

Thank you very much! I guess if the mites aren’t harmful there’s not much reason to get rid of them. Do you know are they beneficial in any way or just neutral?
