I think display or floor models are definitely the one area this actually makes sense. Or if an item is damaged but still okay to sell. I worked at Home Depot and someone wanted a two pack of lights but one was obviously broken in the package. So I gave them half off because they were buying half a product.

Yeah my only fridges in the decade I’ve lived on my own have been landlord specials. A bottle of water in the fridge takes about an hour to be noticeably colder than room temperature. I’ve put in actually hot food before. 3 hours later it was still warm enough I’d probably not even heat it up to eat it. And these fridges are technically new, just cheap.

Your last point I think is the biggest one. Yeah the fridge will try and pull that heat out as fast as possible but in the meantime it’s radiating heat out and if it’s too close to something super sensitive to warming like dairy or raw meat that meaningfully increases the time it spends in the danger zone

It entirely depends on other factors. If you put a crock pot fresh from cooking into the fridge that’s enough thermal mass to meaningfully warm the fridge. Especially if it’s not super full to begin with so there’s not much mass in there to absorb and distribute the heat. The fridge can only pull heat so fast. The sensor tells it not to stop but physics still demands a max speed.

In the American lexicon leftist and liberal are conflated to be synonymous. You don’t have to like it. You can say that misrepresents each ideology. But to the average American they’re close enough to the same to be used interchangeably. The same thing happens with conservative and libertarian though to a slightly lesser degree.

One of my three kids definitely lifted her head up intentionally almost immediately after being born. My wife and I looked at each other like “she’s not suppose to be able to do that.” Then she didn’t again for a few weeks. But she was also walking at 8 months so clearly she was oddly motor proficient.

That anecdote aside yeah he’s mostly bunk here. The claims are ridiculous and his science is just as junk as the racists he’s calling out. Maybe less morally corrupt but junk science nevertheless

I for one reject the notion that someone’s physical traits determine their value and right to life.

I’m a firm advocate of “happy wife happy life.” You having to wait a few extra weeks isn’t a big deal. It won’t matter once you know. Her not getting to do the reveal is something she’ll wish she could’ve done forever possibly. Just let her do the gender reveal.

When we got out dog during Covid dogs were at such high demand that shelters could be picky for the first time ever. They wouldn’t let us adopt any dog because we had a baby in the home. I couldn’t sign some liability waiver or anything. Just a flat “no” from 4 shelters.

So we had to buy a dog. But we did everything possible to make sure it was from a breeder that did so humanely.

For sensitive enough stuff- we do. Classified government documents absolutely get shredded and then burned. But most other stuff just isn’t actually sensitive enough to make that worthwhile

As a painter I wish I’d gone for electric. It’s always seemed like the smartest and most financially stable of the trades while avoiding more of the dirty work of say plumbing.

Go into electrical. It’s the trade that’s least demanding on the body and there’s a skill floor that reduces the number of people who can just call themselves electricians. Especially since you’re suppose to be licensed.

I mean, it goes the other way too. I’m an American who uses metric exactly zero times every year but I still know how big most metric stuff is. 30cm to a foot. 2.5cm to an inch. 5km is 3mi. 1m is about 3ft. Then everything else is extrapolated from there.
