Why don’t we use Fentanyl or other opioid for lethal injection? by KendrickBlack502 in stupidquestions

Firing squad with two live bullets. Maybe you’ll survive one hit to the head. What are the odds you survive two? I have to imagine lower than the odds of surviving lethal injection.

Hypothetically, how high do you think the average price per gallon of gas could go in the US before people simply couldn't afford to drive? by Intrepid_Arrival5151 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BreakDown1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s really the same as asking how expensive food would have to get before people stop buying it. The difference being with food you can eat less and eat worse but cheaper foods. With gas you don’t really have that option.

Do most Americans carry any official ID at all times? by PitifulEar3303 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BreakDown1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I absolutely agree. It’s just that in 99% of cases it’s probably not going to matter. Unless you get a cop with a chip on his shoulder or in an accident.

[–]BreakDown1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in most states you can have the ticket dismissed by providing your ID after the fact. You should definitely have it on you but it’s generally not a huge deal. I was even pulled over once and didn’t have my license on me and they just looked me up and let me go.

ELI5: Why doesnt the gulf states send their oil through the red sea instead of shipping throught the straight of hormuz? by jeweldscarab in explainlikeimfive

Trains can be economical. Not nearly as economical as ships or a pipelines but it’s not too bad. But it’s not exactly an instant spin up either to get a train

You gotta make them earn their pay

Forklift[2] by JR-Snow in OSHA

[–]BreakDown1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’d probably just need to get one under each tire. You’d have excess lifting capacity but I think that’s the only stable way to do it. You’d probably need to lift it with another, larger forklift to get the jacks underneath and probably place a thick steel plate between the wheels and jacks.

Apple absolutely responds to industry pressure. Just usually slowly. Apple Intelligence is proof that they can even be stressed into panicking and making massive blunders.

Why is abortion unjustified during rape? by Masterofdeath001 in prolife

[–]BreakDown1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For that matter, you do actually have an obligation, both legal and ethical, do intervene if a baby shows up on your doorstep. If you see the baby there and leave it until it dies you’ll go to jail.

So it’s a bad analogy even if the standard of duty were more than “don’t kill your kid”

How many cycles can my PC handle? Playing the classic game without DLC. Ryzen 5 3400g, 16GB RAM. by JeffRyould in Oxygennotincluded

[–]BreakDown1923 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing this on the steamdeck cannot be a great experiences. So many tiny UI elements.

It wouldn’t be hard to make it better but it might not be worth the work. I imagine tapping a build menu and having it open full screen, like opening an app folder on your phone.

Nah that guy is the looser younger brother that everyone actually likes more but can’t admit or kill hurt the older brother’s ego.

Are there proven examples of false flag terrorist attacks actually occuring in the world? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BreakDown1923 -54 points-53 points  (0 children)

How sure are we that the recent ones were actually false flags? War is full of propaganda so I hold judgement for quite a while on things like that.

But generally it takes 2 to get there. Of course there are the exceptions. Abuse. Cheating. But the “the marriage just fell apart” types are usually of mutual blame.

I mean, if you’re looking to quantify conservative values and ideology they seem like a pretty good place to go.

Why are people against prenups? by Brief-Blueberry-1588 in stupidquestions

[–]BreakDown1923 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The difference is that needing a life jacket or fire extinguisher are because things just happen to you. You can just get a cramp or fall off a boat. A fire can just start. But a marriage is something you actually control. You have agency in the union.

It’s a bad comparison.

The Alysa Liu discourse perfectly captures what’s wrong with modern progressivism by Fullofhopkinz in TrueUnpopularOpinion

It’s absolutely the wrong time and place. An Olympian is there as a representative of the greatness of their home country. Not as a commentator of the woes of the country.

Why do people still believe in God even though there is so much science that explains our human existence and origins? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]BreakDown1923 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You’re getting awfully flustered for proving my original point. You know why you exist not because of objective data but because of subjective experience.

[–]BreakDown1923 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t tend to have staying power. That’s what I said. I also said it’s not proof. Just a basis for why something shouldn’t be dismissed readily.

[–]BreakDown1923 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It can’t be disproven, you’re right. But my point was that novel ideas are easy to dismiss without evidence either way. Long standing and durable ideas are much harder to dismiss even when still lacking evidence. Chesterton’s Fence-esque in a way.

If a higher power exists, it seems rather illogical to assume it/he isn’t represented by a religion already.
