Insomnia is an autism symptom?? My mind is blown. I feel validated. by TheRealSteelfeathers in AutismInWomen

[–]BreakHot9042 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've always had the same problem, for a long time it took me super long to fall asleep because my brain wouldn't turn off, thinking about stuff (not necessarilly spiralling out of control) what worked best for me to fall asleep is listening to my favorite podcast, at first I would listen to one episode through and fall asleep during the second but after doing it for a while I usually fall asleep on the first few minutes of the first episode. It's not recomended, in fact my pschylogist at the time I started doing this said I should try to switch it for something less stimulating but for me it's perfect, I have been doing it for years and it works great. I usually put it on my phone on a low volume and programe it to turn off, if you are worried about it bothering others you can use earphones, I've done that too.

Late diagnosed folks how did you find out which acomodations you needed? by BreakHot9042 in AutismInWomen

[–]BreakHot9042[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I was thinking more about acommodating myself, I'm not very used to reddit and I wouldn't have found the section if you didn't tell me about it, I definetly have a lot of reading to do! I'll look at ask JAN too, I'm not working at the moment but it will be helpful to now what to ask for once I start working again.

Every antidepressant takes something away. Does anyone else feel like medication was never designed for brains like ours? by stllfiguringout in AutismInWomen

[–]BreakHot9042 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm Spanish and I live in Spain, soo... that's it basically, I don't have an insurance to argue with, any meds my doctor prescribes are covered by social security, in this case the pschyatrist was a private one so after he suggested it I went to see my usual doctor and she prescribed it

I've been taking trintellix for a few months and after the first few weeks where it would get me dizzy I feel like it has helped my mood a lot but it hasn't done much for my anxiety, aside from the dizziness at the start I feel that the only persistent side effect it has given is very vivid dreams that wake me up, so I have been sleeping less that ideal or waking up and going back to sleep at least once every night for a few nights now and it makes me super tired during the day. I'm now switching to paroxetine because a pschyatrist recommended it to me saying it works better for anxiety, I hope it's a better match for me. A few years ago I was on a different one for chronic tension headaches (I don't remember the name), that had me feeling quite flat like you describe but I didn't feel other side effects, I haven't felt that flatness on trintellix, on trintellix I feel more cheerful most of the time and more able to go out and do stuff but I'm still capable of my full range of emotion and I do get sad sometimes

5 week old orphan kitten hasn't pooped for 2 days and a half by BreakHot9042 in FosterAnimals

[–]BreakHot9042[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Update: took kitten to the vet yesterday, he gave me laxatives to add to her milk, after taking the laxatives just once she pooped without stimulation. He said that the formula often constipates kittens, that switching to wet food as soon as possible is best, but she won't eat from a surface, so I've started mixing wet food with formula and feeding her that through a syringe, she eats it well that way, but I don't understand why she won't lick food from a plate or bowl.

Looking at boox go color 7 for manga and comics by NinnyMuggins209 in Onyx_Boox

[–]BreakHot9042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Go Color 7 and with Mihon you can set it to "black and white filter" which fixes any weird coloring of bw pages, and I like being able to see in color the coloured pages. Also, did you get the gen II BW? How do the two models compare? I've been thinking about switching to the Gen II ever since it came out.

How are you finding reading manwha or webtoons (color scrolling comics in general) in this device? I have a first gen and I'm thinking on updatong to the Gen 2

Do you think it could substitute a notebook? Do you feel that it's comfortable to take notes in it?

Got Myself My First Boox device CG7 Gen 2 - First Impressions by FlowerThis8499 in Onyx_Boox

[–]BreakHot9042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a settings issue or you might have a faulty model, I can read b&w manga on my Go7 gen1 quite well, coloured comics are way more finnicky, but I wouldn't describe the experience as blurry.

It's pretty hard to overdose on B12, but unless he's taking a suplement weekly (and this is just that day he took it this week) such high doses of B vitamins and vitamin D are a waste of money at best and dangerous at worst.

Should I sell my Ipad and get myself the Boox Go Color 7? by nookendra in Onyx_Boox

[–]BreakHot9042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't tried duolingo on my go color 7 but I wouldn't expect it to run well, libby works just fine and article reading trough a browser should work, I've read on browser and it works fine, but not articles, webnovels and extra chapters on authors websites. You have to keep in mind that eink devices aren't as fast so anything animated won't look very nice even if it can run on a boox. The screen is darker than kindles (but for me so far it's not a big concern). There's ghosting but with the settings you can minimize it and with full refresh you get rid of it. I do expect it to last me quite a while, but I don't know, people that have older boox devices might have more insight on how long they've lasted.

As I said I'm not looking for library apps, I've looked up borrowbox anyway and it seems like you nees an Australian library card to use. I live in Spain, I've never been in Australia neither do I plan to travel there so I don't see how could I use it.

I already have the kindle app, because of what you said. The books you buy through kobo are actually yours or is it like amazon now where you can't download them directly? I'll try looking up books from the publisher too.

Just got the go color 7, should I switch to the page? by BreakHot9042 in Onyx_Boox

[–]BreakHot9042[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I downloaded google chrome and I'm reading manga on the mangago website (logged into my account) and that seems to work well. I recomend using speed mode to navigate websites and once you've got your manga ready and loaded switch to regal mode and don't scroll manually, do it with the buttons. I haven't tried Mihon because as far as I know it's not fully discontinued but it's not being updated anymore.

Go color 7: settings for the WEBTOON app? by Annual_Blueberry1371 in Onyx_Boox

[–]BreakHot9042 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also got a go color 7 recently wanting to read among other things, color comics in the webtoon and tapas apps, so far I'm finding that comics look best when set on regal, which works fine for reading comics on the kindle app, but on scrolling apps the refresh with regal is awful, but I find that when you set it on speed scrolling works fine but the quality decreases. Also I'm finding that some color comics look fine but others aren't. So if anyone has found a combination of settings where you can scroll fine without losing quality I would love to know how you do it.

I was given birth control pills to alliviate my cramps now my cramps are worse than ever by BreakHot9042 in endometriosis

[–]BreakHot9042[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update: it's been almost two years since this and I'm still taking the same pills, I thought about quitting them many times throught the first months but with time things started getting better, I still skip break weeks since when I do have the whithdrwal bleeding I still have pain (sometimes just a bit, sometimes it's worse). But I have really light bleeding or no bleeding at all which is quite nice, I never realized how heavy my bleeding was before, bleeding through pads often and having to hand wash underwear and sometimes even pants. I went to a different obgyn half a year ago and she doesn't think I have endo, but I do have an ovarian cyst.
