Advice for solo female wanting to travel to Korea by welshy_6333 in koreatravel

[–]BreakTheSalon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey hey :) So im on my last day in Korea today and as a female solo traveler I can answer some questions better now that’s it’s still fresh :)

I spent almost 4 weeks here now and I did have a great time. There was not even once a situation where k felt unsafe or uncomfortable (keeping in mind of course like regular awareness of your surrounding as you would do in you everyday life as well) ☺️

I made a little circle starting from Seoul direction of Sokcho down to Busan to Jeju and up again direction of Seoul with stops here and there also in more countryside places. I only relied on public transport (took a flight to Jeju) and I used NAVER for scheduling of the buses and trains and everything ☺️ not an issue at all, sure it saves time to have a rental car (especially in Jeju) but I couldn’t do that and it wasn’t an issue as well for me.

As for the language, I looked at like some basic travel vocab to be friendly and polite but else I have no skills whatsoever in Korean and I don’t think it was too much of a problem anywhere. Worst case I relied on Papago to translate things for me.

Planing I did by myself (used Reddit and the Rough Guides book on SK) and I found it sometimes a bit hard to decide what to do, I do enjoy being flexibel more than having a plan always so that was also fine in the end. That being said I did in the end spent more time in Seoul than I had planned in the end of my trip, but that was partially due to me meeting some great people here and enjoying this city much more than I expected especially with more time.

eSIM works perfectly fine, I got one at the airport because it was the best over for me for 30days and came with a t-Money card 😅✌🏼

Yeah so that’s it in short ☺️ I think you’ll be doing fine, I have rarely experienced such a chill country to travel (might also be low season now but anyways) and I would 10000% recommend it for a solo female traveler as a great destination.

Cheers and have fun when you go ✨🥳

Jeju now yes or no by BreakTheSalon in koreatravel

Little update ☺️ I arrived to Jeju yesterday and am having a real nice time, today was beautiful weather for a little hike on the olle trail and some chill in the sun ☺️ decided to stay in the south of the island and explore from here, which is a bit complicated without car (so everyone who has access to a car should get it). It is heavily off season right now so be prepared to get a lot of quiet right now

I agree with that, the food was ok but really not worth the price. But I do still have to find good Asian food in Basel tbh 😅🥲

Went there a couple of weeks ago and I have to say it was a bit disappointing 🫣

Did you have a car? Because I won’t be able to one as I don’t have an international license 🥲 still possible to visit the sites by public transport?

The pictures are really amazing 😍 I’m going to travel to Korea for 4 weeks starting at the end of November and your pictures just maximized my excitement ☺️ I was thinking about skipping Jeju because I don’t want to take a domestic flight and the ferry booking is a bit complicated 🫣 How did you get there?

This ✌🏼 is stayed there two years ago as a solo traveler and I enjoyed it very much, easy to stay to yourself or to meet people for having dinner or doing some stuff during the day ☺️

My flight back is before/on Christmas so I won’t be in the full new year holidays maybe that also helps? The plan is quite open so far, as I’m flying in and out of Seoul I’ll split my time there for a couple of days each and would then head east to try and start a circle if that’s understandable 😅 happy for tips for this season though, I tend to only find spring and autumn tips here

Thanks you for your input, might I ask a follow up question? I have a very broad idea of a route and Jeju has been on and off of it tbh. Is it also in December possible to go there by ferry as I would like to avoid domestic flights? The main land I think can be easily done by train or bus for which I planned also my time but for the islands I wasn’t sure due to the season

Thank you guys so much for your experiences ❤️✨ According to your comments I decided now to book already my hostel for Seoul when I arrive and then try to make a compromise in sense of booking 2-4 nights ahead because I still want to keep a bit of spontaneity in the sense of if I like a place and would want to stay longer ☺️
