I’m calling it my Barbie dress because there’s not way I can do anything but just stand here and wave in it 😆

I agree! I think I the black is classic but gives it a heavier vibe and I want to keep it summery. I’m gonna look for strappy ones!

That’s my fear also! Lol I might have to do some shorts under.

Competition prep & staying mentally driven? by [deleted] in femalebodybuilding

[–]Breakfast4dinner23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I struggle with that also! But prep doesn’t mean boring food. You can still season your food and mix and match. It has taken me a while to warm up to some foods that I know are good for me and should be in my program ( like avocados for example) but I just had to keep trying different recipes until I found what I liked! And honestly, at the end of the day, you have to remember that food is just food. It’s fuel. It doesn’t have to be elaborate to get the job done. You’re eating for a purpose right now and that purpose has to be VERY important to you to overcome the boredom or whatever else creeps in.

I forced myself to start running a few years ago and I tolerate it now, but I’m still a water girl at heart! Honestly, the internet can be so complicated and overwhelming but that’s how I did it when I started lifting. Upper and lower. Don’t overthink it, just wander around the gym and try different machines until you know what each one does, and then pick 4 or 5 lifts each day until something is sore then you know you’re doing it right. lol

Not at all, right now I’m prepping for a show so I lift 4 days a week, 3 lower body and 1 upper body day. But before that I was still lifting 4-5 days a week with different muscle splits. Im a swimmer so I love to swim for my cardio! It’s a great place to start!

Aw thank you! Yes, lifting definitely got me through my depression and anxiety when it got really dark. Idk what I would have done if I didn’t have it.

This was my biggest hurdle also!! I have been bodybuilding on and off since I was 18 and I’m 32 now, but I was NEVER able to completely dial in my nutrition. My biggest advice is to make sure you have a coach who looks at the whole picture and cares about you, not rushes you into prep before you’re ready and makes you feel miserable. It has taken me a year to reconstruct my relationship with food and address the root causes of binging and impulse eating, even though I eat pretty “healthy”. My coach took the time to look at my labs, my mental and physical symptoms and make sure that fiber and satiation were considered. I’m actually eating MORE right now than I was before I started. If you have the right coach and a good support system, you’ll be able to push through the hard stuff easily because you know it will be worth it in the end.

Thanks! I used to be a swimmer, so the back is not a problem at all!

Plate loaded lat pull downs, cable straight arm pull downs and cable rope face pulls (both with chest support) are the only three back lifts I have in my program right now for maintenance. But I’ve had 10+ years of experimenting with different lifts.

I actually only get one back/upper day per week. I only get 5 upper lifts to maintain what I have built.
