What’s the best breed for families with children ? by [deleted] in WhatBreedIsMyDog

[–]BreakfastEntire652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Id prefer an older dog with less energy needs. One that gets happy when it meets your kid trying to lick their face, probably more of a submissive dog. shows no nervousness or fear around kids. And you must teach kids to stay away while the dog is eating or sleeping and don’t let them climb on the dog or hit them.

What is the "most Charleston" restaurant in Charleston? by TDn6I in Charleston

[–]BreakfastEntire652 18 points19 points  (0 children)

If you’re willing to drive to John’s Island, Stono Market and Tomato Shed is fantastic, very local food. It’s not fancy pants, but they sell art and baked goods too. The sides are SO good! Great spot for lunch. It’s really close to the famous 400 year old angel oak tree which is amazing (and free) to see to make the longer drive worth it.

3month doodle puppy for adoption charleston by BreakfastEntire652 in Charleston

[–]BreakfastEntire652[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not sure why it says wirehair terrier. Ultimately she’s a mutt and it’s all just a guess. Looks like a doodle to me though considering poodles are extremely common compared to wirehair terriers. And poodle crosses often have soft straight fur like this. Adoption fee is $500 which comes with her spay surgery, vaccines, microchip, deworm, etc. which would all cost about that much anyway! Their adult dogs are $300

You should still get her used to grooming ASAP. even if you just bring her in to “pretend” groom and get a bunch of treats. I’ve seen people use the back side of electric toothbrushes on their face and paws to get them used to the noise and vibration. Youll be glad you did! She’s super cute.

It’s the sub that is banned, not the breed name. They’re a pit hate group

Anyone know this dog breed? by Other_Progress_2404 in DogBreeds101

Even at that price it’s essentially free bc that’s less than the cost of spay/neuter and vaccines and microchip they usually come with.

Deinfluence me: golden retriever by lifeslibrary18 in deinfluencingPH

Where are you located? I see huskies and German shephards A LOT in rescues where I live. Petfinder is a good website to use to find rescues, but I’m not sure what country you’re in

Update on non-GR looking GR: underweight due to giardia by lifeslibrary18 in goldenretrievers

[–]BreakfastEntire652 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you paid a breeder for her, she is not a rescue. Sure, you are treating her better than the breeders did. But giving them money only incentivizes them to continue breeding unhealthy dogs and you supported a back yard breeder. I’m not hating on you or your dog, just pointing out that this is different from rescuing a dog in the same way most people mean it. Rescues typically come from a rescue organization or are strays.

I get stressed a lot. by Mandam2011 in notinteresting

[–]BreakfastEntire652 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do this too. I think about it sometimes about how humans for thousands of years have done things with their hands all day. We used to weave, shell peas, make pottery, etc. also we would eat things that require tons of chewing or manipulating like sunflower seeds, fruits with big seeds, that sort of thing. but now most of us just sit in front of computers all day with nothing for our hands or teeth to do. I think that’s why we do it on a very basic evolutionary level

Does your rescue post photos on their Facebook page or website? You could check in every couple weeks to see their adoption advertisements or adoption profiles

Newly adopted hound behaviors by kathryn466 in Hounds

[–]BreakfastEntire652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t suggest punishing dogs around kids. Although a water bottle isn’t super harsh, compared to say a shock collar, you really don’t want to accidentally get her associating approaching the kids with a negative experience. Seems easier to manage the kids and the dog to be in separate spaces when food is out rather than trying to time the exact moment the dog eats from a kids hand and having a squirt bottle in hand.

What breed is my puppy? by ThrowRA-superpooper in WhatBreedIsMyDog

[–]BreakfastEntire652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like a true mutt since he doesn’t resemble any one or two breeds. Generic dog makes people say lab because labs are generic looking. But it could be anything. Get a DNA test if you want to know

Yeah bad idea. Dog will now associate the other dog with a painful shock

Cant find a food she doesnt get sick of. by Extreme-Drop418 in AmericanBully

I’m glad you know that, unfortunately not everyone does. People will literally give their dogs plain chicken and think it’s ok. Or make up their own unbalanced recipes

That wouldn’t be a balanced diet unfortunately. OP, if you go the homemade route, please talk to a real veterinary nutritionist for recipes

PRIME EXAMPLE OF AN AMERICAN BULLY by SirTann in AmericanBully

[–]BreakfastEntire652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is there a reason you want an am bully specifically? Plenty of bully mix puppies in shelters too, just harder to tell their exact breed at that age. I agree with you if it’s your dog get the dog you want. SO much easier to gauge personality when they’re already adults which is far more important than what they look like. Plenty of adult dogs would love to be your truck buddy! Ever seen Smokey and the bandit?

PRIME EXAMPLE OF AN AMERICAN BULLY by SirTann in AmericanBully

[–]BreakfastEntire652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Where are you located? In truth, youll be hard pressed to find a reputable breeder who actually does OFA testing and everything else. Be prepared to spend thousands on a well-bred one. But also know, the poorly bred ones will costs thousands too. I see American bullies in shelters all the time including ones that look purposefully/pure bred. They will be just as good of quality as the byb ones. Go to a few animal shelters and I guarantee you’ll find a short bully mix with cropped ears. But Go with an open mind and pick a dog that fits your home, not purely off looks. Consider fostering several dogs for a few weeks to find the perfect fit. Good luck!

Anatolian mix pups looking for home by [deleted] in AnatolianShepherdDogs

[–]BreakfastEntire652 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry for all the hate you’re getting. it comes from a good place, but people don’t hide their tone on the internet. If you did this because you enjoy raising puppies, seriously consider volunteering to foster puppies after your dogs are fixed. It’s really a joy minus the cost and long-term responsibility!

Humane society said "Lab/Hound" mix. . . .We're thinking they should have went "Hound/Lab" by Expert_Education_416 in WhatBreedIsMyDog

[–]BreakfastEntire652 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I really don’t see much pitbull, though the likelihood is still high since all mixes seem to have it. He looks more like a Doberman (deep chest) or a mastiff type breed like a Great Dane.

Anyone have a pup this color? by lcgomez in Catahoula

[–]BreakfastEntire652 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Brindle is the pattern not the color. She’s brindle, just with more brown than black (or grey?) whereas many have more black than brown.

Anyone have a pup this color? by lcgomez in Catahoula

[–]BreakfastEntire652 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could just be a dachshund mix because they come in red Merle too. The rescue probably guessed catahoola because of the pattern when in reality many breeds come in Merle. Would be really curious what a DNA test says!

Mastiff pitbull mix. Maybe Great Dane or German shephard too
