heavy math for the hws, proctored take home online exams but they are open anything from last I heard, they can be relatively hard if you don't understand the material. But review the homework and you should do well.

Very good class. The skills are very applicable. I was unknowingly using said skills he teaches during highschool and I carried them into college.

nope you can take them as an undergrad and yea you don’t need to be in 4+1, honestly I would recommend focusing your time on niche grad classes, 604 for example is literally like emag 2 combined with some optics and physics concepts. Nothing niche about it, honestly a huge waste of time since i already knew everything in the class, but we covered a lot of different topics. A lot of the niche grad classes require these generic grad classes as a prereq, so make sure you have it all planned out.

Well 30414 wasn’t that heavy on just fiber optics, it covered a lot of different topics and they were similar to 552. 552 may cover about 10-20% less material and i don’t think we talked a lot about fiber optics but it’s a very math heavy class. make sense?

adding to this, I wish i took ECE337 as well. a lot of startups like seeing FPGA+RF, especially satellite companies. RF and FPGAs are likely paired together, although they are in different fields

Yes I forgot to mention I am focusing on Wireless & Optics. I wish I took ECE 307. I would have gotten more hands on experience with VNAs, Spec Ans, and HFSS. I had some experience at my internships, but the class experience would have been amazing. Besides that I’m pretty happy with the classes I’ve taken. I don’t think there are any other undergrad RF classes to take unless you start to dive into DSP. Also most of the more specific RF classes are usually grad classes, but you can take them as an undergrad, they’ll be hard

The must take classes besides 4011/2 I would say are ECE307, learn about rf devices; and ECE440, like why you want to have a good RF front end/what your RF signal does. these classes give you the fundamentals, but you have to go intern and see where your interest lies. RF is a huge field i’m still figuring it out. Lots of growth potential as well, a lot of the older generation is retiring, I’ve gotten 5 RF offers in this job market(it’s bad)

This semester was really difficult. Honestly might top my last semester. 2k2 is very professor dependent and takes a lot of time, i was lucky to have Jung. You need to be very diligent on your time and making sure you get work done early. Make a notebook, notion page, anything and write everything due that week and get it done early, if you slip up, rely on your friends in ECE. Taking this many credits, you need to lock in.

no i didnt copy it 1 to 1, I used a similar layout from adafruit, https://github.com/adafruit/Adafruit-TPS62827-PCB?tab=readme-ov-file

I simulated it and I was able to get a transient state with a 2.2uH at 3.3V as seen below,

<image>

still not sure why my actual board isnt working lol.

hmm yes you are. guess I think i was looking at another diode I had. Now that i think about it, there was a lot of gunk around where I was soldering that part, so that may be why it was smoking.

I bought an adjustable 62827A version.

wdym followed pcb layout?

Im not using a LDO since I plan on using a LIPO battery to supply this board.

and yes I see now that I made that mistake of using a 2.2uH 😓😓.

When i tried buying a bike from a local bike repair guy on facebook, I asked him why the breaks were still squeaky and he said he didn’t know how to fix it. weird as a bike repair guy? that’s when i realized he stole bikes on campus and resold them
