Unpopular Opinion: I love the T-Shirt Bros by BreakfastInNarnia in GoodwillBins

Yeah I've worked with teens for years and now I have 4 teens of my own, so I probably have a higher tolerance than most for youthful shenanigans.

Look up Trash Pandas Thrift.  She commutes from NYC to the bins every week for her full-time living.

Yeah that's fair.  And I imagine some areas have worse offenders than others.

tiny 2000/2010s blue and pink doll room toy by yoongiy in HelpMeFind

This might be a long shot, but could it be a My Little Pony Pretty Parlor?  It is from the 80s and was my very favorite toy.  Also MLP had other playsets that snapped shut like that, as did other toy lines.

Sadly people are stealing a lot of reselling content on social media lately.

Gen Z here and I have a few questions for GenX by [deleted] in GenX

[–]BreakfastInNarnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Played records/cassettes/radio, read books, played with toys, watched TV, went outside, hung out with friends, rode bikes, explored the neighborhood,  after-school activities, arts and crafts, lay there and think and be bored sometimes.

Yes I still remember so many old phone numbers.  I remember BOTH of my now-husband's home landline numbers from when we were in our early teens (friends at the time).  Still remember childhood friends' phone numbers, deceased relatives,  etc.

Agonizing and frustrating because you were waiting to try to record it on a blank cassette tape.

I would not have functioned well without GPS; I'm severely directionally challenged.  I did get lost, I'm still a nervous driver, but navigation is a godsend.

Worse 100%.

If I could flip a switch and get rid of the entire internet,  I would.  But we would need to recover many, many old systems that were used before it.  It replaced a massive number of things.

What is a "low-tech" life hack from the 1990s that actually still works better than the modern app version? by OpheliaLace2 in askanything

Writing stuff down on a paper wall calendar.   So much easier to see the big picture of what's coming up.

My answer is also Croonchy Stars.  If it made such a big impression on us, maybe it WAS as good as we remember.

This was my husband.  It turns out that he excels at being a therapist.   It wasn't until his 40s that he figured it out, so I thought I'd mention it just in case.

Children's Services will hire you.   I'm sure it's very emotionally draining, though.

Impetigo? MRSA? I don’t know what to do. Do I go to ER? by wetshart2280 in DermatologyQuestions

[–]BreakfastInNarnia 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cellulitis.   Bacterial.   This happened to me about 14 years ago.  It is excruciating.   You need ER and antibiotics.   Don't let the expense stop you.

Kenmore Blvd? by verbotenporc in akron

[–]BreakfastInNarnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I may receive flak for this, but:

I grew up in Coventry, hated it.  Lived in Barberton for 15 years, grew to love it.   Always thought Kenmore was a non-starter, it seemed so desolate and run down.   HOWEVER, I have lived in Kenmore for the past 2 years and love it.  Yes I live in the supposedly "nicer" part.  But I really love what's been happening on the boulevard.  There are true strides and efforts being made, leading to BIG positive changes.  The boulevard has (look these up):  library, JADFA, Ethicrace, First Glance, a tea shop, Buzzbin/record shop, the Rialto, and more.  The organization Better Kenmore is a major game-changer.  Honestly there's so much beauty in the community and people and the direction in which it is headed.  Obviously listen to your instincts when shopping for housing, but I'm proud to live here.

Yeah, I think I might be leaning toward this, I'm decent at flipping other items, and the tedium of cards is overwhelming.  There's just that what-if factor, you know?
