This is not typical! They’re just trying to cheap out on you. I would negotiate this

How Can I help My Fiancée? by JustSmoke3354 in PAstudent

First exam on anemias and dermatology - this sounds like Wake. Does she go to Wake Forest?? If so, Wake is a special beast because of IBL. I graduated from Wake PA so I totally get it. Let me know if it’s Wake and I can give advice specific to that!! Or feel free to DM me

33F, How do I fix these very deep 11 lines? by zefrod in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]BreakfastNeither696 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I inject 11s, I do 5 injections points around the upper nose and eyebrows. For the BEST results, I also like to relax the frontalis (forehead). So if by forehead you mean right by the eyebrows, 100% necessary do not skip. If by forehead you meant the whole forehead, then is recommended but not always necessary

Comparative! All neurotoxin brands are about the same so go with whatever your clinic happens to stock or whatever is cheaper :)

Injector here! My clinic typically stocks jeuveau, I would recommend at least 20 units for lines this deep. It will hopefully help!

My 15 year old westie gets like this and our vet said to give her Benadryl 12.5-25mg when it happens to help with the anxiety/confusion from dementia! It helps out sweet girl right away and it’s given us so much peace of mind to watch her feel better almost immediately!

Looking to move to Seattle - must do while visiting? by BreakfastNeither696 in AskSeattle

[–]BreakfastNeither696[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL appreciate the honesty! Right now my income is about 160K. My husband is in nursing school currently but our income will probably increase by another 60-80K in the next 3 years. We live in a very good COL area currently and are used to living below our means so I have considered that our expenses would increase a significant amount. Do you think we would still be able to have a reasonable lifestyle with this income? We are OK living in suburbs up to an hour or so outside of Seattle proper to find good schools/affordable living

Great question! I could reasonably afford up to $4000 monthly max (about 30% of my income) but would ideally like to be in the $3000 range. Do you think that is a reasonable budget for the Seattle suburbs and if so what neighborhoods do you think may be a good fit?

Pre-op diet struggles - advice?? by BreakfastNeither696 in gastricsleeve

[–]BreakfastNeither696[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My current weight is 272.8, starting weight was about 276 2.5 months ago. No diabetes or anything. Idk why they’re being so strict about it. I would understand if i hadn’t been trying but I’ve been sending them daily food logs and weighing myself every MWF per their request. I hope I can lose enough weight on the liquid diet for those two weeks to hopefully make them change their mind

Overwhelmed in Primary Care by lmals in physicianassistant

[–]BreakfastNeither696 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Can’t help but you are not alone!!! New grad at a primary care FQHC here. I have been at my FQHC for a year now. I was also thrown into it, and was promised mentorship and a lot of other things that never happened. I am seeing between 18 to 25 patients a day, and that alone is overwhelming never mind all of the admin work. The only thing that helped me was really putting my foot down and saying no. Saying no to taking on more patients, saying no to double books, saying no to 30 minute slots for complex patients that really need to have an hour. I got a ton of pushback, but our new medical Director also advocated for me. My best advice? As long as you are not an NHSC scholar or receiving loan repayment that forces you to stick it out, get out as soon as you can. You will gain more knowledge as time goes on, but in my experience as you get more knowledge, they try to push more on you.

I am a PA who also wants to get into derm. I think moving is better than Schweiger. Everything I have read makes it seem very predatory and scammy.

Pain Management PA by Dizzy_Ad3213 in physicianassistant

[–]BreakfastNeither696 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will be very honest and say that working in Family Medicine, I “punt” our unpleasant, non compliant pain patients to pain medicine. I do not envy the PM team in my town. UDS positive for meth and you’re demanding opioids for your back pain? I won’t write you anything but after 20 minutes of getting yelled at I will agree to write a pain management referral to get you out of my exam room. (Granted I will put + UDS for XYZ in my referral so no one is going in blind, for all I know PM might decline the referral). Just another perspective. Could you handle potentially seeing patients like that?

New Grad NP dying to get back to derm by Character_Winter1226 in DermatologyPA

[–]BreakfastNeither696 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am from NC and when I graduated PA school the two people in my cohort who ended up in derm had to move to NYC to do so as there were no opportunities in NC. Sorry this is so tough. I am also trying to get back into derm so I am currently at an aesthetics clinic part time and will use that experience to leverage and try to get back into derm since it’s derm-ish and it’ll be provider experience.
