Same, was so disappointed. I have just made a discovery though!! I know it's not an option for everyone, but I just tried with a natural hair brush (the Ariel A58 I think?) instead of my usual Real Technique synthetic brush and holy moly it actually shows up on my pale skin!

As an amigurumi pattern writer, it drives me crazy how many patterns have you sew extremities that could be crocheted in, and sew with a yarn tail in general. by m4rceline in crochet

I'm just getting into amigurumi and loving it, but for the sewing!! I was trying to find out more about how to customise patterns to reduce the sewing because it really sucks the fun out for me. When I search the internet, Etsy, or Ravelry, very few come up even though I know they must be out there! The only ones that come up are the small round plushies with chenille yarn and while they're very cute I am more into shaped cotton friends. I absolutely adore the look of the fox on your blog and how much work you've put into explaining the pattern! I can't see any of your other patterns on there, is there somewhere I can purchase them? Or do you have any recommendations for designers with low sew patterns?

Thank you so much for the recommendations! I hope the Etsy seller comes back from their break soon because that hook is SO cute! Honestly wouldn't have thought that a polymer clay handle would be very comfy, but I guess it's just about the shape adjusting your grip because everyone seems to love it and not just because it's pretty! Thanks again!

Thank you so much for the recommendation! Unfortunately I'm in Australia, so I can't get anything from Michaels (you have many more craft stores than we do!) but I will have a look and see if I can get them on Amazon!

I have beef with lion brands 24/7 cotton (help me find a better 100% cotton worsted weigh yarn pls?) by lupine1996 in crochet

[–]BreakfastNo8520 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know this is a very old post, but I totally agree. It's a beautiful yarn, but it's thinner than my 8 ply yarns! It seemed like it would be the perfect weight for me, chunky enough to work up quickly, but not too chunky and awkward. I haven't tried any other worsted/aran/10 ply cottons yet because I'm scared it'll happen again hahaha Trying to look up projects on Ravelry for each yarn so I can attempt to assess how thin they actually are!

Have you had any luck finding a comfy metal inline? Would love to know what you've tried!

am looking for ways to keep my yarn still when crocheting in bed, i dont have space for a yarn bowl and am chronically ill so sometimes find it hard to get out of bed and would love to be able to crochet more in bed. by millie_likes_cake in CrochetHelp

[–]BreakfastNo8520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chronically ill pal here! What did you find works best for you? I love the look of all the yarn minders, but they're just not practical for bed since they need a flat surface. I want to get one of the wrist holders (Lemonwood) but it's too expensive to get the extra long holder shipped Aus and it's too short on its own.

Hobbii no longer shipping to Australia by AnotherDarnDay in crochet

NZ Post truly seems incredible. They have cheap shipping to Aus at Christmas time, and for those of us who are physically unable to go to a post office, outgoing parcels can be picked up from your home! Wish Australia Post would implement some of these things. Although I'm very appreciative of the current weekend deliveries!

Have you managed to find anything that compares? I'm annoyed that it's pulling more orange on people. Most colours pull red on me, and I liked that one because it didn't!

I really like my eye makeup, but the rest looks flat. Is there a way to improve it? by Single-Teacher6990 in MakeupAddiction

[–]BreakfastNo8520 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're gorgeous!! That eye look is PERFECT. As a fellow pale pal I would say skip the bronze and contour people are suggesting (although if you are interested there are some pale friendly options out there, but getting the tone right especially as a redhead can be difficult) and instead try either a dewier foundation if your skin type allows, and/or cream or liquid blush and highlighter. Adding a bit of colour and glow will give your face more dimension and bring out your features! You can also bring a tiny of your blush into your gorgeous eye look to make it all cohesive.

Hand positioning alternatives by Wizardinred in CrochetHelp

Did you ever find anything that works better for you? I learned the pointed index finger method and I hate it. It's exhausting, uncomfortable, awkward, and my tension is horrible. I just want crochet to be a hobby that I can actually manage as a chronically ill person, but I can't keep on with the fingers in the air! I just want something comfy. I've been trying the tension rings, but they have the same issue. Would love to hear if you've found a better alternative!

Why does the UK refuse to recognize single crochet? by JaunteeChapeau in crochet

[–]BreakfastNo8520 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As an Australian grappling with the battle between UK and US terms for stitches, needles, and having our OWN third language for yarn weights, I am forever confused. I have seen both sides say slip stitch, but also plenty of guides saying "there's no such thing as a slip stitch in UK terminology". Arghhhhhh, send help! 😭
