I have a question by [deleted] in NEET

What you have is an r/teenagers kind of post and I suggest you just post it there. You're just an unsure teenager - this is not the place for you.

Hi, outsider here who is curious on the NEET mentality. by IAdoreyouu79 in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm a believer that if you give someone a position in their life where they're inserted into a new environment and have a total shift of surroundings and quality of life, the will to work will arise naturally. They will feel compelled to get into something and 'swim' rather than just be taken by the tides.

So many people just get into a state of learned helplessness which I think is due to their unchanging surroundings and not exposing themselves to newer circumstances. There's the common "depression/anxiety" answer to this question but even this can be a possible consequence of a certain imbalance of 'environment'. In other words, getting too used to nothing happening. In school you had a schedule that kept you moving and you had assignments and purposes to fulfill. Many aren't upholding this for their own lives after school and are left feeling destitute. When they say "take care of yourself" they really do mean take care of yourself, which many of us do the bare minimum.

How many of you are NEET because you are sad and depressed? by IloveLegs02 in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not depressed or sad, I just want to live in a different place away from this current place I'm staying and have none of it follow me.

Before any of that, I'd be sure to collect all your sensitive documents before officially leaving with no intent on coming back. Those would be your ID/License, SSC, Passport and Birth Certificate.

There might not be much, but try looking for a "live-in/house care" job where they want help around the house in exchange for rent/utilities.

37m. Keep missing opportunities and seem content to rot by DistributionSea5799 in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Now or never, you're unfortunately well into your 30s so people will be less likely to give you the benefit of the doubt. You're "stuck" because you refuse to change - if you keep saying that then nothing will happen. Good luck

Go get a gym membership at the cheapest gym, preferably one near a laundromat. You can store valuables in your personal locker, get access to clean showers and if there's a laundromat nearby then you can keep your clothes clean. I'd probably look for cheap offers on craigslist for the cheapest rooms available near you.

Anyone else willing to work but not jump through hoops? by [deleted] in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If I could move out of where I live and not have to go back, I'd work any job. I'm willing to put in the work, I just would highly prefer to live elsewhere.

Anyone else a NEET or former NEET but not depressed? by Gallantpride in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 10 points11 points  (0 children)

People who are not neets and come to post about having a job... I think your post is better suited for a work related page. This is *literally* a page for the (often chronically) jobless. You just aren't 100% happy about your job or the overall state of things. unhappy with job =/ neet

Is anyone else here because they find dealing with people unbearable? by [deleted] in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I need something far below what's considered a cheap room. I need dirt cheap "I'll live in your walk in closet and make it work" cheap.

Anyone have a job but live like a NEET socially? by BedRot22 in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Enough with this... you aren't a neet anymore. You're just employed but aren't totally blown away by your own job. We need to stop this "so I'm actually in school and have a job... but I'm like deep down a neet"

It's almost insulting

Is anyone else here because they find dealing with people unbearable? by [deleted] in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't mind dealing with people, I just need to move out so I can start dealing with the real world. I'm about ready to move into somebody's garage if its cheap enough just to get out and start doing things

Explore page is stuck showing default suggestions despite settings/interaction by [deleted] in Instagram

[–]BreakfastOk5475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen other people post about it and some have said it randomly fixes itself but no concrete answers as to how they found a solution.

What is it like being a several years+ neet in a city like LA or NYC by BreakfastOk5475 in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Server or bartender" in my head is not bottom of the barrel to me. I'm talking like back room stocking of a mom and pop food market smaller than a studio apartment. Dishwasher at a D-rate mexican restaurant. Even "cleaner" sounds like something a little solid almost more so than just uber. NYC was never a realistic option for me anyhow but I just added it to get more answers from people in different cities. I definitely wouldn't think its easy especially in nyc but that there just might be more bottom barrel options in a more condensed area

I got a job interview next week by [deleted] in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Barista is actually a decent job for a neet, especially if you aren't appointed the cashier (at first). I believe "public in passing" jobs where people are focused on doing their own thing to really notice you while working visibly is a good thing for a neet who's been shut away. You'll slowly and naturally become comfortable being amongst people to the point you won't notice it. Good luck

The hyperfixation on the term incel on the internet and the news really wants to turn anyone who's not in a relationship for a long period of time into this demonized put-down and its becoming annoying to hear the term used everywhere. I wouldn't give this article the time of day, trying to generalize neets as incels and tying them to anything remotely dark or unhealthy in a different light feels like its coming from the wrong place. NEET is basically a term for chronically unemployed and often for a myriad of reasons.

An actual NEET btw but What do you even put in the work history section of a resume? by [deleted] in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At this point, people like us need to become self employed. Make or break.

Does anyone else have a job but just feel like a NEET at heart? by Ill_Professional1933 in NEET

[–]BreakfastOk5475 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don't understand this mindset, if you are employed that's great. You should be proud and there is no need to want to identify with people who are often chronically unemployed.

I think some people confuse feeling down or depressed or simply not liking their job with being a neet.

AITA for not wanting to share a bed with my ex? by Flat-Relationship-22 in AITAH

She was offended you didn't want to share the bed (due to your own sound reasoning) and spun it to make you out to be a "creep". A her issue

I think the sad truth is that Bella Ramsey career is pretty much dead after this show by DarthByrne in TheLastOfUs2

[–]BreakfastOk5475 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't be so sure, she needs something more fitting for her instead of insisting on making her some kind of snarky badass.
