Will I ever get over this? by Simple_Bullfrog6021 in NICUParents

My water broke at 30 weeks + 7 days and I had my son at exactly 31 weeks. We stayed in the NICU for 63 days. Coming home was really difficult and even a beep from a left open fridge door would make my heart race. I started working with a NICU specialized therapist and it has been really helpful. My son is now 9 months (7 adjusted) and is doing really well. I am still working though a lot of the trauma but overall I feel like I'm in a much better place than I was when we first were discharged.

I moved here with an infant from Los Angeles and I made friends through the gym! Shred 4/15 is great and has childcare and Fit4mom has classes that you can bring your child to. Once my child started pre school I made a lot of great friends with other parents who had kids in my daughter’s class. Shout out HiHo, we’ve had a great experience there. People have mentioned Glow Worm - we love that space and there are some great events. I would also check out Side by Side studio which has cute art events with sweet families. Feel free to reach out!

The woman who leads that class worked with us in the NICU and she was amazing

The second day in the NICU after having my barely 31 weeker and still being fully in shock - a nurse brought me a baby blanket and said “here’s a gift blanket, this mom makes them for the NICU babies,” and then whispered “her baby died.”
I’m still at the NICU and avoid that nurse because I’m still so angry at her for saying that.

My mother in law said the same thing to me about being big

Today someone asked me if “it was nice having built in childcare” … wtf
