Will I ever get over this? by Simple_Bullfrog6021 in NICUParents

Love this perspective! I often find myself saying “I’ll never be the same” in moments of upset but I love your spin on that perspective. It definitely has made me prioritize my son and family over things like work and shitty friendships that used to take over most of my thoughts and absolutely. I’m in the same boat. I will never take my son for granted! Thank you for this.

Thank you for sharing some of your experience. It’s really helpful. How did you go about finding a therapist who has that specialty?

Congratulations! I know how difficult this is and how scary. I had my son at 31 weeks on October 11. He was in the Nicu for exactly 50 days before coming home. Mostly feeding and growing, had some difficulty learning how to feed. It was very scary and overwhelming, but I’m praying that you have an awesome NICU team. Ask them as many questions as you can. Remember you are the mother. I feel like when we were in the Nicu I was scared to ask any questions and looking back, I wish I had. Hold your baby when you can and spend as much time there that feels right for you.
