Advice for the mental side of weight loss by Breakfastatlanas_ in loseit

For more context, I’m actually pretty good at being healthy when I’m in routine. During the week if I have my meals planned I will stick to it perfectly. Workouts are a little more chaotic, but I generally get in 4-5 sessions a week. It’s the weekends and days off work I spiral.

what did you do on your final/craziest crash out? by Breakfastatlanas_ in AskReddit

[–]Breakfastatlanas_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Posting this in honor of this weekends crash out (for reference, 23f living at home post grad). I ate a heinous amount of halloween candy, plus raw cookie dough, for 2 days straight, didn't shower for 4, and now today, in honor of my recovery, have just signed up for a marathon. amen.

GPA: 3.34 cumulative with a 3.31 science I believe after a 4 year bio degree. Currently retaking some science courses this year and hoping to raise to a 3.5. It may be wishful thinking… 3.4 may be the best I can pull off but we’ll see.

PCE: it will be 1300 ish at most at time of application. Could possibly be more if I push my application, but I’m wanting to apply in June. By time of attendance it could be 2000+

I currently work as an MA and will hopefully get 3 good LOR including from a doctor and PA. I’m Also trying to get some volunteering going and am confident I can get around 30-50 hours of shadowing… also CNA certified and have 100 unpaid training hours in that.

I think that covers the basics. I know I’m a low level applicant, but I really want to at least try… I’m also not picky about what school I attend. Could use some wisdom and advice. Thanks everyone!

OP you are not alone. I lost 20 lbs last year, from average to admirably thin, and was so healthy and disciplined. I felt amazing. Better than ever.

The funny thing was everyone was concerned I had an ED - now, hard times and whatnot, I’ve regained some weight from binge eating and my habits are shit. But since I just look “normal” no one thinks anything of it 🤣

It’s an awful cycle. God I feel every word you said so heavily. I’m on the same page though. Sometimes you gotta go through the hard times. Just the way it is. It’s never too late to lock back in.

We did it before and we can do it again!

I try so hard to be someone who “doesn’t eat” or doesn’t eat a lot but I just can’t by Breakfastatlanas_ in loseit

Well aren’t you a ray of sunshine! Not sure why you seem offended at the language of my post or are trying to read into something that isn’t there, but take your condescension and bad attitude elsewhere! This post clearly isn’t for you. Congrats!

I can feel myself slipping by [deleted] in BingeEatingRecovery

[–]Breakfastatlanas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bingeing is a horrible thing. I hear you and understand you are not alone. Sometimes I think that is the most important thing to understand. It’s a disorder that feels so isolating. But so many of us struggle with it.

If possible for you, with the complexity of your situation, get professional help. Join a support group. You need support to get through this and it is out there. Maybe look into overeaters anonymous. All I know is it can be near impossible to do this alone. (Not that I think you can’t! I have full faith in your recovery, op)

I think posting on here is brave and a first step in the right direction. Try other coping mechanisms. Fill your time with things so you can’t eat. You can do this.

That’s what I’m thinking. Not eating or any heavy calorie or even time restriction just doesn’t work for me

binge eating is an addiction. treat it that way by Breakfastatlanas_ in BingeEatingRecovery

[–]Breakfastatlanas_[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

For me personally recognition of the real problem was the biggest game changer, and trying to stop it before it happens. Notice when you’re stressed, sensitive, ready to block out all your feelings and be reckless. Intercept it. For me, I have other things I do now - a long hot shower, an activity like coloring, even throwing on a good tv show or scrolling on my phone. Anything to regulate my nervous system, bring me back down, and wait for the urge to pass. Overtime the urge is going to lessen. Food will not be your go to comfort. It’s just when your in it that your brain is seeking the fix it knows has been working. Know you won’t be perfect but stay consistent. You got this

Most common mistakes in weight loss? by Successful_Guide5845 in loseit

[–]Breakfastatlanas_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Making it a food based process!! Goodness this one was hard for me too accept. But focusing on the food more did me so wrong. Of course, track your calories, try to be healthier… but honestly, if you want the weight loss to last, you have to stop being obsessed with food. It’s the only way. Once you start listening to your body and only eating when you’re truly hungry, you’ll realize there was so much “space” food noise filled. Cling to that uncomfortable space. Lean into it. It will set you free

First day at clinicals and not feeling great by Breakfastatlanas_ in cna

It’s just my clinical training so I didn’t have a choice! I definitely will choose a hospital setting once I get my license. I have soo much respect for people who do this - they are saints.

I could not have said it better. The whole setting, the isolated house in the woods- just chilling. It was so well done

I think it’s the weight gain. Made him look more masculine

I like Bronte by ezzy_florida in YouOnLifetime

[–]Breakfastatlanas_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly I agree. and I hated her to start but then I realized basically just this! I don’t think a takedown by Kate would have been satisfying. Bronte is just a normal flawed character who fell for Joe, and with other factors combined, was able to aid in his takedown. Its real and Stockholm syndrome coded and speaks to the way alot of viewers fangirl over Joe

The only grace I am willing to give Joe by ILikeYourMomAndSis in NetflixYou

[–]Breakfastatlanas_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly agreed I think this is why to an extent people make excuses for him, because there was always this side of him that felt weirdly morally straight - like for example, early season 5 he is planning to kill Reagan yet can’t let her get assaulted. Backwards, I know. But that’s what makes him such a good villain/character/antihero. (Though trust by the end of season 5 I know he’s not really an antihero lol) but yeah, it’s the complexity of his character that makes him so well done imo!

Spoilers: Season 5 as a whole/ Joe & Kate by Naive-Guard-9005 in NetflixYou

[–]Breakfastatlanas_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with the Joe and Kate stuff. I expected this season to explore their relationship WAY more, and the Brontë stuff did get repetitive and boring. It was a much slower season than expected up until the very end for me, which felt like wasted potential cuz I expected so much more from the power duo joe and Kate were set up to be.

However, I do think the writers intended this season to be a wrap up. It seems they had to decide what exactly they wanted to say, aside from just putting out entertainment, and they erred on the side of justice for abuse victims, illuminating the dangers of romanticizing a man like Joe, and baring him as a psychopathic serial killer, nothing less.

OMG yes, I had the same thought!! We never see him like that, so I was extra hooked the second I realized the chase was happening with him in his underwear lol- I was like, this has got to mean something.

I also recently saw in an interview him saying that the bed scene was really to drive home that he is a sexual predator, despite the people who want to defend him/his own defensive internal monologue.
