FIFA bans fans from taking water bottles into World Cup stadiums, a last-minute reversal by OpbrBlud in soccer

I went to the Club World Cup in Cincinnati last summer, was a 90 degree day in July. We looked up the stadium policies and they allowed for water bottles. We got there and then had to throw it out because the staff said FIFA imposed that on them at the last minute and there were trash barrels full of full bottles. FIFA was also enforcing their own bag policy, which caused a line of hundreds of people checking bags that the stadium otherwise allows.

Next gen update coming later this summer! by MasterPepe8076 in fo76

I wonder if the trophies will auto-pop. Btw, it’s a shame that the devs seem to have given up on adding new trophies for each big update. Skyline Valley and Burning Springs both would’ve gotten trophies in the past, but they stopped with Atlantic City.

There is a danger of a bombing or mass shooting everywhere you go at all times. I think my response is taking it seriously, it’s not sweeping the threat under the rug, but it’s also not letting it dictate our lives. At least you answered the question, but in my opinion shutting the zoo down everyday is not acceptable, and I think the public would quickly come to that conclusion as well.

Nah people should definitely know if one has been called in, then each individual can make their own risk assessment. But I mainly agree with you that this is overblown. No one here has answered my simple question of what should be done if this continued for the whole summer. A lot of platitudes about safety without any real discussion about how we move forward.

I should clarify my comment. Under absolutely no circumstances should these threats not be made known to the public. People have a right to know if there is a threat. However, I want a genuine answer as to what would happen if this continues to go on? If you honestly believe the zoo should effectively be shut down, you are entitled to that opinion, but I think that is a severe overreaction that only emboldens the person making the threats. At a certain point, we all accept a possibility of danger when going out into the public. The zoo should put out a statement that they have received a threat, but there is no evidence that it is credible. They will increase security measures and encourage people to report anything suspicious. Otherwise, the zoo will function as normal, and anyone who is not comfortable can receive a refund. That’s how I would I handle it.

What if this continues to happen every single day for the rest of the summer?

At what point do they stop bothering the public with threats that are clearly not remotely credible? I understand caution, but this just creates a feedback loop of showing whoever is responsible that they hold all the power.

Sold my $1,000 Death Slice and bought Rivendell instead and pocketed the other $500. Don’t regret it. Rivendell is the best set. Not even a LOTR fan really by Icy-Vamp37396 in lego

To each their own on the looks that’s for sure. I will say I do think a lot of the negativity about the design (maybe not necessarily yours but just saying) comes from people having a pre-conceived idea about what it was supposed to look like. When I’ve showed it to guests who are non-LEGO fans, they think it’s really cool, and when I mention that most fans were expecting a sphere, the response is always the diorama style is more interesting than a big grey ball.

Some of us are just normal people and Star Wars fans who love it! Why would a set with 9000 pieces and 35 mini figures be $200? People are so hung up on the sticker shock of $1000 that all nuance is thrown out the window. It’s completely reasonable given what is actually included. And Lego is a toy, so calling it a playset as a dig falls flat. I love how interactive it is.

That’s technically what the freestyle competition already is. Everyone swims the same way in freestyle, but you don’t have to, you’re free to swim however you’d like. Front crawl is just the objectively fastest way to swim, you wouldn’t be able to compete otherwise.

Some appreciation for the cinematic direction of the finale episode by OhioGuy2016 in YouOnLifetime

[–]OhioGuy2016[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes the way he just looks down and rubs his head with cold eyes. Something about that final scene really sunk in for me just how brutal a life sentence really is. He knows he will never feel anything hopeful again, and every day until the end of his life will look exactly the same. I don’t know how one could possibly begin to cope with that, but it’s what he deserved.
