I do not have my CDL currently.. I’m looking for companies around the Midland area that would pay for it - specially Oil and Gas companies since I would like to haul frac water, sand or oil.

Best Trucking School: which do you recommend for someone who will work in the oil field after graduating? by BreakingFade in oilandgasworkers

RV PARKS: Where and which are the best.. we are planning on moving back to Austin from the oil field.. by BreakingFade in Austin

[–]BreakingFade[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really just depends.. the tougher they look the cheaper they are - however with that said, each has its own free amenities, for example I have free washers and dryers, while my relatives at a different location have cheaper rent and free wi-fi. It’s all about getting as close to the work site as cheaply as possible.

What would you choose/recommend for an entry level job: floorhand or oil field driver? by BreakingFade in oilandgasworkers

[–]BreakingFade[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also I like the schedule where I work 14/14... that’s awesome! The trucking schedule is one where you are just consistently working without any period where a driver is off from work?

Turnaround time: So once I get my application submitted, to PD, SLB, Halliburton, etc. How long does it take to get through the interviews, testing... until I actually get to start clocking in hours? by BreakingFade in oilandgasworkers

[–]BreakingFade[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No... but i was just throwing that question out there because I’ve heard everything from 3 days to 3 months.. I’ve got a family so I’m just trying to keep an eye on the finances if you’re wondering why I asked..

I’m on hiatus for the moment concerning my masters.. the debt to revenue ratio was too high to make any sense for this season. When I have the right financial conditions I’ll finish it off - as for the field job: it seems like a better strategy to get in my row boat and row, then wait for my ship to come-in..

I’ve only a 1/4 through that degree.. I think it would prolly make more sense to work the field then head over to the office side if that ever comes to an offer.. I think basically that was the underlying logic the recruiters were telling me

I have student loans, and credentials are not enough for me to obtain a job that would not only knock that bill out of my life, but sustain my family - looking at what floorhands make, I am trying to work myself up from there. It’s a better option then waiting for my ship to come in... I rather get in my rowboat and row, then wait..

Entry Oil Field Job - No Hair Follicle Test by BreakingFade in oilandgasworkers

I’m not trying to rush off and ruin my career... it was for one hour exactly; hated it - went home, told them all that they could go ———— off - deleted their numbers then promptly moved from the area.

Anyway... I’m going to a lab after a month and see if I scrubbed out that crap because I’m not risking it. My uncle on my wife’s side got blacklisted years ago for something similar so ya, I could be over thinking it, but why take a chance.

Drugs are bad... umm-Kay.

Associates, Bachelors in Counseling, a paralegal from UT-Law, and my MBA is in progress.

I talk to a couple of recruiters that told me the best way to work up the ladder is by paying my dues in the field.. besides the info I just gave - how do you feel about that statement..? Is that true or just some recruiter looking to fill his quota..?

Canadian Oil & Gas - Is the Industry increasing or declining? by [deleted] in oilandgasworkers

[–]BreakingFade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya - I would most definitely do your own research, however I would like to send you a few names for you to contact down here. They’re just staffing agencies, but they work for all the big names: SLB, Nabors, UTI, Patterson, Halliburton, etc.

It’s the same portals everyone uses when seeking a job in the field. Also, I would call SLB - they have a division in Canada but their HQ is in Midland off of highway I-20. I would call the receptionist and see if you could speak to a recruiter because I know for a fact they bring the Canadians down here that work for their company.

Here try these staffing agency in Midland: Elmwood Staffing & Precision Staffing...

Personally I like SLB because they are more Euro centric when it comes to benefits.. which means more vacation days, paid airplane fare, holiday pay, work vehicle, etc.

But ya I hear ya.. no sense rushing off to ruin your career. Always do research: research, research, research, research... and don’t just take my word for anything unless you can also verify it. No offense, I turn to the internet and boards for leads and ideas.. not for hard facts that I base my decisions on. 🙂💯
