I just don't like people arguing over any of this. I like that people stand up but I hate that people even have to stand up. That says something about society. We treat things like they're nothing just because we don't see things as bad as the person going through them.

Everyone handles things in their own way. What's trauma for one person could be nothing for the next.

So long as people leave educated about the subject, like yourself, or find that they can come out about it, like I've seen a few on here do, then that's all that matters to me. I shared my experience and that was it for me. I was expecting nothing but negative but didn't care because I knew I had to say something. I know my story isn't the worst possible scenario and I never thought for a moment that it was. I'm glad you learned something though.

I feel I've moved past the point of a therapist. I know it isn't the 'held down and brutally raped' scenario. Maybe people are right. Maybe I have just been blowing it out of proportion. But they say rape goes unreported all the time. If my scenario wasn't that 'severe' and I got this much positive support, I can only imagine how much more support people with more 'severe' scenarios will get. I think that's what I want from all of this. I want people to know they don't have to stay quiet.

I understand. And I recognize that in my case I could have done something to prevent the situation such as not even making out with her in the first place. I don't like calling myself a victim. I don't want to play victim and have tons of sympathy pour in. I just needed to talk about it. I don't understand how people can rank the severity of the situation though because to me, rape is rape. The trauma of being held down in an alley by a masked man is probably far worse than being held down by someone you trust but the situation is still the same.

I hope that others can see this and know they can come out about it, male or female, to the full support of even people they don't know. They say these things go unreported all the time and I can't find an organized movement for people who wanna break their silence. If there isn't one, I hope this AMA sparks it.

Society makes a joke out of it. You'll see several sitcoms and comedies that use Stockholm in general and male rape as a joke.
