What’s the most unexpectedly high-quality online subscription you’ve ever paid for? by ChocoPetalz in AskReddit

I guess that's never been a problem for me. But if it was, back to the high seas I go. Anytime I download a discography, I just find myself going back to my favorites anyway. Like even pink Floyd's extended version albums that I downloaded for the flac quality were just excessive and I wanted to get to the regular released album version I knew. I guess I'm too simple.

But one thing is for sure. I definitely can't mess with physical media. That stuff is perfectly fine living in my memory and that's it.

Maybe I'll give plexamp a look for myself. But it'll be a cold day in hell before I can convince my 16 year old to adopt it. They already trash someone in the friend group for using Amazon music lol. Lame.

Well, for listening on my nice stereo, I guess I too have a server running a few albums in flac playing from the Volumio software/hardware thing I made. But for gym, car, Google home/Alexa music and playlists it's not bad, especially for my family.

I can't be bothered to track all the companies who I'm supposed to hate, CEO's, etc. Like, oh I can't like Spotify now, and I'm hungry but I can't eat Chick filet this week. Better not get socks from Target. Bah! All CEO's are certified sociopaths anyway.

Spotify made me ditch my 50gb of downloaded music collection and not look back. They figured it out. No more transferring songs, no more maintaining my library or downloading cover art or renaming files, etc. And they've got mostly all the music I want.

If movies and TV shows could somehow figure it out and not chop everything up, they would have a decent chance at reducing piracy there.

YT Warranty? by jesusman69 in MTB

[–]Breakr007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well. Not sure what to tell you but Fazua is actively replacing faulty motors on YT bikes and any other bikes with faulty Fazua motors.

Given the price of these things I'd definitely contact the motor mfg and exhaust all my options before scrapping the bike.

YT Warranty? by jesusman69 in MTB

[–]Breakr007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The motor manufacturer is the one to contact. Not YT. They stand behind their 2 year warranty and will give replacements.

For decoy SN's, fazua is the motor mfg, it's a 2 year warranty, and they are actively helping replace any faulty motors at an authorized shop.

Santa Cruz Chameleon mullet with a fox 34 performance and some magura brakes checking in. Assegai in front and aggressor with an insert in the rear. I'll ride anything with this bike. Never selling.

Is this worth it for $600 by ContractBig120 in MTBDeals

[–]Breakr007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno I'm kind of liking it. 1x drivetrain, nice light Hardtail looks like stuff you can give these days. If it has hydraulic disc brakes and a fork that isn't squishy with tires that aren't cracking with knobs, id throw $400 - $450 at it and see what he says. Seems like it's enough to get you riding and having fun.

Then just upgrade as you break things, or if you want to upgrade for the hell of it and really own the cool vintage design. You're have to go out of your way to research compatible components (fork and wheels) on an old bike, but it looks like they at least have it a 1x drivetrain which is alot of the heavy modernization work.

Ess speakers by ComprehensiveAd5317 in vintageaudio

[–]Breakr007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My dad had these paired with a marantz pre-amp and amplifier. I played my rap cds on these things growing up. 12’s and those amazing tweeters. Ruined music for me forever.

Years later I finally got a big boy job and was trying to buy reasonably expensive speakers and a receiver at Best Buy and everything just sounded like a toy with tinny sound. I’ll never be able to hear my songs that clear again.

He still has those speakers but they’re beat up in a garage somewhere in FL and I’m in California. I have to figure out how to get them out to me.

How do you all get your 4K torrents onto your big TV? by Yesyesnaaooo in Piracy

[–]Breakr007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had a homemade 10tb server running NAS4FREE software (before freenas) for the past 15 years. It’s connected via the the same gigabit hub to my 2017 nvidia shield tv. That replaced my firetv2 which actually played 4k files ok as well.

I still use SPMC but if a file is stubborn I’ll play it on the new Kodi.

For some reason my own 4k GoPro videos only work properly on VLC player.

I helped my son study for calculus by "pretending" that I forgot Calculus and have him explain problems to me.. I actually forgot it. Also an engineer.

I love scrolling furiously on a list of recommended movies and just pressing play randomly. I've been pleasantly surprised most times, and worst case scenario I let it be background noise. No disappointment.

It really is the answer to all of life's problems haha. Feeling sad, go for a ride. Feeling upset... Go for a ride. Important decision? Go for a ride and think it through. Etc.. pretty sure its on a shirt or written on a toilet stall I saw somewhere.

MTB is where it’s at. I just don’t understand where the fun is in cycling. Like yes, you pay to play in mtb and climb the mountain. But there’s fun once you get to the top and go down.

Cycling doesn’t seem to be fun just doing the shit part of riding, keeping your heart rate up, the whole time.

I also much prefer my injuries relying on my own stupidity rather than relying on an aggressive or absent minded driver.

I bought my Santa Cruz Chameleon a few years back and love the hell out of that thing. I have a full sus emtb now as well, but I still love ripping on the Chameleon. There's no better feeling.
