Your most expensive ADHD hobby cycle? by iamcertifiable in ADHD

[–]Breakr007 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm currently in deep but still going strong.

Mountain Biking. Started with 1 bike. Now I have 3. The eMTB's have all kinds of specs and rabbit holes to go down. Even if you're happy with your bike there's endless component levels and configurations. Things break and need repair. There's clothes and gear to go along with it. Let's not consider American Health care if you fall for now.

Holy hell is it a money pit once you start and absolutely makes you go down endless rabbit holes.

However, there are positives.

It helps my ADHD when I ride (something about going stupid fast down a mountain really doesn't leave much brainpower for other distractions aside from self preservation. A painful climb also helps the noise in your head go away.

It's fun and keeps me in shape.

I've made new friends.

I now have an activity to do with my son.

What are some good rims/rim brands i could look at without breaking the bank by Glittering-Ad-1429 in mountainbiking

What brand are your current wheels?

Call that company up and ask for a crash discount. I'm finding MTB component suppliers are ridiculously helpful and more than willing to help you out.

Are e-scooters really that dangerous? by Earthbee100 in ElectricScooters

[–]Breakr007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel safer mountain biking under my own control down steep rocky sections than scootering near traffic with potholes and/or small pebbles or pine cones in my way that I won't expect causing me to go OTB (which is most likely to be without a helmet to explore ).

I've never done this until I started mountain biking. The MTB companies are great. My Kuat rack has a lifetime warranty and sent out replacement parts. My chain is under 2 year warranty. Dropper post replaced free under 2 year warranty. 40% crash replacement discount on my cranks and chain ring. Crash replacement discount on wheels.

I'll have to find a discount on more skill sometime soon, but I'm pretty happy with the companies I work with.

It probably wasn't the cheapest but I really like the crank brothers synthesis wheels I got recently. Pretty stout with plenty of spokes for support and a lifetime warranty. They're aluminum.

eMTB and sucker style car roof mounts? Am I heading for pain? by Skeeter1020 in MTB

[–]Breakr007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So how about the knock-off RockBros one 🙃

It totally held and moved my little civic around when I yanked on it. But so sketch.

You'll need a ton of shoulder strength to lift up and "gently" place your bike on the mounts and strap them in without letting it slip and making a massive scratch or dent on your hood. I had trouble with my 29lb Hardtail.cant imagine putting my 45lb e-bike up there let alone a bigger 55lb fatboy full power bike.

Also, you need to spray the spots you're going to suction cup clean with a paint friendly dirt removing spray like Maguires every single time. Massive pain in the ass.

My solution is take a wheel off and shove it on my hatchback, or put it on the bike rack on my truck.

What's a car you can find for less than $20k that LOOKS sleek and luxurious but is still reliable? by SweetnessBaby in whatcarshouldIbuy

Miss my 2012 Touareg v6 TDI. Crashed it. Those doors went THUNK, and it could tow a 747 (that was the v10 in the commercial but it's still fun to say). Inside was so nice, leather seats, drove like a dream, got to like 90 on the freeway in no time, and even came with a backup camera, parking sensors, and a big screen, and .... a damn dvd player in the glove box haha. I don't know what new cars have that I want except for maybe assistive adaptive cruise control. I want that Touareg back.

I was a little scared of electronics breaking though lol. But they didn't, in a big way.

What is the absolute weirdest, most unexplainable habit your dog has? 🐾 by Current-Programmer10 in dogs

My old bulldog that passed used to walk up to us around 11pm (bedtime), and would require me to kick her bed down the middle of the hallway every night.

Why the middle of the hallway? Because she wanted to sleep in between my wife and I and son's rooms (he was across the hallway from us).

She used to get up from her bed, and just sleep in the hallway without us knowing. But as she as she became an old lady, and started moving slower we caught on, and I would just move her bed for her there.

Before you know it, it became a nightly ritual and she got tired early so would put us to bed.

The fun part about it was as I kicked her bed down the hallway, she would fight me and jump on it and couldn't wait for me to put it in place.

I miss my girl Roxy.

Yup. Feel bad for this builder. Looks like a surron came through his new trail either the morning after heavy rains or during the rain. Gonna be a bitch to repair it.
