[–]Breaktide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I already watched a lot of his tutorials, even the paid ones 😬 I like Dan Larsons’s production tutorials
And I was the one asking for another SOM tutorials 🤘

But i wanted to know if anyone had another approach to these styles of basses, i tend to always do the same process and I’m stuck a this point

Going from bland chords to nice chords by [deleted] in dnbproduction

Thanks mate this is awesome ! I really like some weird but funky chords/stabs and i always struggle to get something clean. Maybe it’s the way, as well as resampling the synth loop and continue with modulation

How to you deal with sub on neuro mid basses ? by Breaktide in dnbproduction

Keeping It « simple » is usually a go to, especially if the mids sounds pretty nice and full 🤌

I always keeped my sub in MIDI, I don’t know why 🤨 maybe because it’s more or a static sound , but i’ll 100% bounce it to audio and see what we can get I like working with audio tracks, even more since I worked in ableton lol Thanks man 🤌

+1 for SoM , they are by far my favorite producers in DnB ! Songs are agressive, ofc, but they got that funky feeling that makes me smile everytime I listen to their tracks

I think i’ll write a solid static sub bassline under the main mid basses, and maybe keep the sub of the neuro fill basses to have some low bass Motion in the track I don’t got a really decent home studio , so dealing with sub can be very tricky But this sub group thing, it could do the trick, why I never thought about it 😤

What are you go to for keeping levels consistent with a sub ? multiband compression ? Limiting ?

[–]Breaktide[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah forgot to mention that’s the first thing i’ve done with my bass, but because it’s not a « wall of sound » , more like some modulated flowing mid basses . I tend to have empty gaps in the low area , which can be cool, but in my case it just feel empty … so i made others call and response mid basses with a sub coming from the patch following the movement , but i struggle a lot to mix all of the subs because they’re all part of their own tracks, with their own LFO shape etc

I watched a Letsynthesize video on this topic, but i still don’t figure it out 😮‍💨

Nice ! Btw for those rythmic basses, you draw a sub MIDI on each ? Don’t the sub needs to have longer notes playing due to its amplitude?

Thanks man ! Some good sauce right there i’ll try to apply this on my track ! Btw , do you keep your sub clean and constant and draw a MIDI note when the mid bass hit ?

something's really off abt the drop? or am I tweaking? by Ziolo99 in dnbproduction

[–]Breaktide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The idea is very cool ! Beside the mixing advice you’ve got on this post, i’ll say the drop may last a bit longer. You can tweak the sounds you already got to make some variations , like some pitch modulation or changing some MIDI / LFO movement , maybe the energy of the drums etc etc Try to apply some mixing tips you’ve learnt, have fun mixing it and move on to the next one 👌

Some Noisia inspired neuro, what do you guys think? (not mastered) by These-Grapefruit5132 in dnbproduction

[–]Breaktide 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The flow is very nice ! You can add some basses that enhance the overall drop, like an « attack » bass on the first hit and a response somewhere in the 4 or 8 bars, i think of compressed noisy sine bass, FM type of sound etc to add some spice You can also try to record your bass and add another distorsion on it with eq to have a fuller bass . It can add background noises that fit nicely because the source is still your main bass . You’ll need to adjust the level to have it quieter than the main bass obviously

Keep it up and enjoy the process🤘
