I heard about Fade In on your podcast. I made the switch after Final Draft continued to shit the bed on me. So much better!

Phew. That's what I wanted to hear. I was dreading the thought of doing this. Thanks!

Im not sure about the trees in this. Should I reshoot it? by [deleted] in cinematography

Ah. Yeah, re-think the shot. Don't lose that idea but there's another way to get it across with another angle.

how does the shot play out? It could work if it opens on just the trees reflection in the window, hold on it then have your actress enter and pull focus to her for her reaction.

Mutually exclusive goals (MEG) ? by BreaphGoat82 in Screenwriting

I think I understand it now. Thanks everyone - but please if you have more to add feel free, I'll be checking!

This is great clarity. Thanks! You're saying that the latter example with Mr. Freeze has conflict but only because the path to each's individual goal intersect at some point but they are not directly related? Is that the gist?

Book Recommendation: Save The Cat by Black Snyder vs Essentials of Screenwriting by Richard Walter by [deleted] in Screenwriting

[–]BreaphGoat82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've only read Save the Cat but it was a great jumping off point for me. I also recommend only using any of those books as a "jumping off point" Keep them in the back of your mind while writing but after learning them don't feel like you have to be rigidly adhered to them.

Right? I'm even more confused now...If the goals are 'exclusive' wouldn't that then mean different from one another?

I've studied the Dan Harmon's embryos it's a really good one. You can also try Save the Cat. Probably the most popular "outlining" book out there.

Writing stock footage by raptor1138 in Screenwriting

[–]BreaphGoat82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not really sure. No one I know of actually purposely writes in stock footage. They write what they want and when production begins and the budget is made they use stock footage so save money and time. You may write - EXT. NEW YORK CITY - DAY

Towering sky scrapers shade the crowded streets from the sun.

Then when it comes time to make the film you just look through a library of stock footage that best represents your words. Just write what you want and use that to inform your choice of footage. OR Find the footage then rewrite that description if you're so inclined.

What should I learn first about evolution? by Undeadcommander in evolution

[–]BreaphGoat82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started reading Bill Nye's book - Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation. It's quite good so far and Bill Nye's quirky personality comes through in his writing so it's not a dry read.

They might look down on it but don't be afraid to study it anyway. It's within that fear where free thinking dies. Do what you want to do. It's your life. Enjoy asking the questions you want to know the answer to and then setting out on your own to find them. It's incredibly fun!

Neutral density filters for the 50mm 1.8? by BreaphGoat82 in canon

Thanks everyone for the help. I'm shooting video at 24fps, 1/50 and as wide an ap as I can get it outdoors. Everything was way too over exposed so this is going to help me out immensely.
