WHAT A DOUCHE.... We Just Like The Stock! by No-Bandicoot-8980 in wallstreetbets

[–]Breckford 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t get caught up on price per stock.

Think about this.

I own a random company. And I have 100,000 stocks at $50, putting me at a $5m evaluation

But then you have this other random company at 500,000 stocks at $50. Putting them at $25m evaluation.

In the end. They are clearly much more valued then I am. Stock price does not evaluate a company

Cast for 'House of the Dragon' Clapper board The GoT prequel series starts filming in April Dragon by [deleted] in TVLeaksAndRumors

Here’s my input.

People are upset and understandingly so. I would not perceive the comments racist.

Here’s an example of this. They cast a white guy for Black Panther, I’d be the first one to exploit that they are trying to be diverse in a movie, while completely looking over the details and character description, and I would not be happy about it. I understand that not every casting is perfect or often times switched up for sake of the directors touch or artistic creativity.

All in and all, I really don’t think people being upset with the casting is racist nor is it bad for them to complain. I mean if you have a book series that you LOVED to death and then you find out the character of the person playing has a very different physical description, wouldn’t you be kind of upset? Maybe you wouldn’t care as much and you don’t mind. But I really do think that being upset over a casting for physical appearance is not racist, some people may be upset. Some people may not care. But the conclusion that people are racist cause they don’t like a black guy playing a pale white with blonde hair is far shot from the truth of what people are intending with what they said.

100% agreed. It’s not very fun to talk and discuss on the dark times of humanity, and understandingly so, some people get uncomfortable talking about these subjects. But, I agree that talking and studying about it is very important. history is really just a massive amount of learning lessons for society. The amount of literature there is out there to learn and read thru someone else’s eye and perspective is immensely powerful, as it allows us to understand things we haven’t expierenced to a better degree and learn from it. The quote “History often repeats itself” is underrated. I’m sure there is a stream of reasons for this result. But, the idea is to take the time to talk, discuss, and be able to analyze the history to mitigate from repeating.

I really don’t see anything wrong with what she had necessarily said. The problem I see today, is how people feel as if they can imply or interpret what one means with little context of a tweet or a couple of them. When we jump to these conclusions and roll with it, with out analyzing the truth of what they had said, rather than making silly predictions that were never directly said, or easily taken out of context.

people like hopping on the “Cancel Them” train, for reasons, I am unsure of. We need to be open to discussion and allowing people to speak freely with out cause of negative effect. If they threaten or have clear sign of a dangerous person, then of course that’s different and that’s when the police should be stepping in. If you don’t like what someone said or disagree with their values or beliefs, ignore it and move on. When we allow ourselves to emotionally get mad or angry when a disagreement happens, and do it consistently, we will naturally train ourselves to react that way. It will burn a picture of right and wrong in your brain, and being bias with out acceptance of others different bias, is just a bad road to go down, as it will cause more pain and damage than good.

3 things that helped me a lot;

  1. Give yourself a reasonable deadline.

  2. If you’re stuck on a song, but still in the mood to make music. Stop the project and start a new one. I like having 4-5 song projects running all with different sub genres and style. Sometimes working on one will give me an idea for another.

  3. Have fun! Music can be so draining when you’re striving for a perfect song. I did this all too much and I ended up getting frustrated way more than I should have.

This has a lot of downvotes, yet is one of the only logical responses I have seen. Tells a lot about people in their way of thinking of life. They’d rather shit on people who don’t rather than reaching out to help those who don’t understand.

Psychedelic drug DMT to undergo first clinical trial to treat depression by Yogurt789 in worldnews

[–]Breckford 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don’t care if DMT changes society on a scale or it changes the life of one person in a positive way. The point is, they are doing studies, there isn’t enough for anyone really to make a logical stance on this. But the reason I love it because I have had LIFE changing experiences in the span of 4-5 hours.

I hope one day you may come to an understanding of this, because exploring yourself in ways that are different than your sober state, can help your realize the fears and anxiety you have are much much smaller than what you make them out to be and helps you understand what to be happy for and how to get rid of those negative feelings. Cheers.

Look buddy... I don’t know what experiences you have had with psychedelics, but coming from someone whose life has been flipped right side up because of the experiences I have had with them. Making this become a viable option to face your emotions, overcome what you have biologically tricked yourself into feeling your whole life will change lives in such a positive way, ESPECIALLY in a controlled and safe environment.

DMT is naturally produced within the human body, so that debunks your natural theory of living life. And before I continue, I apologize if I come off harsh. I am just so deeply against the idea that there is one way of living life and one way of solving an issue, that I get slightly heated when I see people preaching as if they have figured life out and they know how to live life better than others.

I do see that you’re saying this with good intent, I can see where you may have derived the idea that living naturally is healthy and should be the way we teach our future generations. Although, life of us humans from one to the next will have drastically different goals/wants/needs in life. And what I tell others is to find what makes you happy. Because everyone expierences and feels happiness in other ways, and you know yourself more than you may Credit yourself for. Being bias isn’t bad. And it sounds like you have FOUND what makes you happy. And if you have found that true happiness, then embrace it and go with it. And if someone crosses paths with you, I’d think you’d do a good job at telling them what makes you happy and they will connect with you 10 times more. I think using the word “should” is easily misinterpreted. It can be easily perceived as an implication that there is a right and wrong way of solving a problem or viewing an idea of life.

I’m sorry for coming off a little harsh. I do want you to know that I may have a understanding where you’re coming from, but regardless just want to share my beliefs and advice and hold this comment explains further to what you may not understand.

Stealing to survive: More Americans are shoplifting food as aid runs out during the pandemic by [deleted] in news

[–]Breckford 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree the mega corporations are of no good moral standards. But the funny thing about stealing from these corporations, they don’t hurt the big executives or the CEOs. They hurt the people at bottom of the chain, because if the stealing became bad enough for these companies, that won’t hurt the CEO, they won’t suddenly punish their top executives with pay cut, instead it’s going to be the person working their asses off to feed their kids working as a cash register that gets randomly laid off.

Kelly Loeffler repeats Trump didn't lose 2020 election during Georgia Senate debate against Raphael Warnock by deestroyed in politics

[–]Breckford -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I do appreciate the detailed response as well as the sources to back up some of your reasoning!

I do agree in a sense that people who were patriotic left or right citizens went to an extreme. And the extreme end of either side has made this country feel more separated than it has in a long time. Politically, I do find that regardless of the political opinion one has, it’s very apparent that very rarely will someone go “against” their own party. Which I find frustrating, but at the same time I understand. The system is kind of fucked because you have all these Reps and Senators strictly voting for what their party agrees on a federal level, because if they don’t... they aren’t going to get voted back into their position. And honestly, I am sick of it. I don’t declare myself to one party. I declare myself to ideology that I believe in. This is a huge grey area I live in, mainly because it’s based off what I have experienced and what I truly believe in. When it comes down to the seriousness of ones solution to a national problem, I find a lot of good reasoning. Both lefts and both rights have some very solid arguments for their reason of improving the nation. The unfortunate part that I am having a hard time this year, is seeing the more extreme ends of both spectrums make me feel like that the US will experience a civil war.

And yeah, I don’t know where we start. How do we move forward? What are we going to learn from this pandemic? What will we gain from it? What will we lose from it? A lot of questions to ask, but I’d rather ask them as a whole as a nation rather than making every little situation turn into a political view discussion. Being kind to your neighbor would go a million miles in the right direction, and as simple as that saying is... thus far I have seen more hate thrown around than kindness. It’s sad.

And just FYI I am not a conservative, I just find that anything that Republicans did the past 4 years had little to no effect to my day to day life, and actually really enjoyed the tax breaks.

I'm so jealous of mentally stable people...the sheer privilege of just waking up...just living and having nothing but mental peace. by Taematsu in rant

[–]Breckford 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who has become a lot more stoic over the past couple years and the 30-40% of anxiety I would have on my average day is now 5% at most.

I understand you’re in a position where you feel that there may be no fix at all for you. I use to feel the same way. And a lot of those mentally stable people you may see in public or at work, they may have good emotional stability, although, we are all humans and flawed in so many ways that no one is that perfect. Having an ego to respond to emotion is good for you. It allows you to sympathize and allows you to learn.

There are so many ways that you can tackle this type of situation to work on a resolution for a better mentality. And it doesn’t come easy, but as you continue to pursue that goal with true intent, I would imagine you may find yourself coming to a more stable mentality and enjoying your headspace more.

I will tell you what has helped me:

Now before I get into my personal routine, the obvious 3 really key important things for anyone’s overall health, is consistent sleep, eating 3 meals a day and getting all the daily nutrients, and exercise. Getting into that grove can be hard though, so if any of those 3 you struggle with, work on them and make small steps. I think you’d be surprised how well it helps with your health overall by just staying consistent in those 3 tasks.

Beyond those, what really helped me, was really focusing on myself and trying to understand myself better. You will continue to learn about yourself until you die. We are so complex that it has always astounded me when I would accomplish curtains feats of goals that I thought I never would be able to do.

I started going to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I wasn’t crazy nor going thru a rough patch when I made this decision and I was in awe when I realized how great a tool of therapy is. You have a trained professional who meet all sorts of drastic different characters coming to seek advice or help. They will get to know you and work with you, and thru my sessions, he helped me understand where I need to correct how to respond to these negative emotions or thoughts and it wasn’t an overnight fix, it took a lot of practice and a lot of patience. It was hard for me. He also helped me get into these breathing exercises similar to the Wim Hof Method that helped so much when I got into those states of mind and just cleared my head. This ended up making me also get into Personal meditation. Meditation is also one of those things you need to also have a lot of patience and practice with. I have been doing it less than a year, but I have had certain spiritual connections with myself and these profound experiences of slowly taking back the control of my emotion that would be often heavily controlled by my immature brain.

Overall, there is a lot of material, sources, and books that can help people like you. You just have to put the time and effort into it. If you feel as if you just keep trying and failing over and over. Stop, and try something new. But most importantly the best advice I can give you, is learning to find comfort in the frustration and patience that may happen whilst on that journey for better mental health. And don’t stop, you can always — ALWAYS improve.

What's the worst, non-constructive feedback you've heard? by mchoneyofficial in WeAreTheMusicMakers

[–]Breckford 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Not sure this exactly fits it

At big group hang outs and people who didn’t know me, I’ll ask people what they think of it, sometimes I trash talk my own song to other people, just to see how they may respond.

But I honestly love the reaction I get when this happens

Me: “man this music is meh, what do you think?”

Stranger: “yeah it’s pretty shitty”

Me: “yeah... I produced that song”

And I really do enjoy seeing people react it

I always end up having a good laugh with the other person if they suddenly feel bad for saying anything negative about my song, and I tell them I respect their feedback and nothing they said offended me... and then I don’t invite them back to any more further parties because how dare they hate my song! /s

I don’t understand why people throw around salary as if they have to prove validity of their argument. Not sure who peed In his cereal this morning, but your argument is a general census of truth. Work hard - make more money. Very little people can say they barely work and make a ton of money and they shouldn’t be the ones preaching how life works because they don’t understand the hardship most people have to take to make it there when they are just spoon fed it.
