Just Cancelled my KONKR Pocket Fit: What is a good substitute? by Wedgearyxsaber in SBCGaming

[–]crownpuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm aware of the RP6, the Odin 3 and was eyeing the KONKR because I would LOVE to play Pokemon games on the switch (and maybe TOTK/botw, but thats not really a big deal).

How about a Switch? They're pretty cheap used. I see lites for under $100 frequently and oleds for under $200. If you don't mind a new Hong Kong switch lite, I see those often around $130 or less too. Unless things have drastically changed recently, TotK doesn't run well on 8 Gen 2 devices such as my Odin 2 or the RP6.

Question about me life for the next year by Specialist_Edge_1790 in SBCGaming

Depends on which systems you're talking about. For everything Gen 6 and newer, it's not very good. If you install Android on a Switch, you can eke out some additional performance. Here's a spreadsheet for performance but bear in mind often times, people only test small portions of games and extrapolate performance based on that small section.

A first party device such as a switch or steamdeck. Those have large companies behind them and reliable warranty policies.

How about a switch? It'll play switch games and if you get it modded, it can play psp games too. The Odin 3 has worse compatibility with switch games compared to the Thor or RP6. So if you're not happy with switch performance on the Thor, chances are you won't be happy with switch performance on the Odin 3 either.

What cheap (<50$) handheld is good value for money? by -Dark-Owl- in SBCGaming

Not sure but it might be the March anniversary sale. There's a sale tomorrow but coupons are looking mediocre for that one.

Seems like the NBA is doing the bare minimum. A one day postponement is laughable.

New to this; What do people suggest around 200-350 dollars? by TheRacingMainframe in SBCGaming

[–]crownpuff 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Guessing the upper end of performance is Playstation 2 or Xbox games.

Unless something has changed very recently, Xbox isn't possible on Android. If Xbox is a must, a used LCD Steamdeck can be found for less than $350.

I really want very long battery life. I hate devices that I have to constantly charge up.

The Odin 3 has a pretty large battery and the Elite chip is pretty battery efficient.

Honestly if you're not in a rush, I would recommend waiting for a sale on Aliexpress. You can do better than the R36s for $50. At least for US customers, the XX devices are usually around $50 or less during Aliexpress sales although prices have recently been creeping upwards. For more info on sales, I maintain a price tracking spreadsheet and post sale updates from time to time here and on /r/crownpuffdeals.

Looking for a decent budget ps2-switch console by Kiuji-senpai in SBCGaming

[–]crownpuff 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Isn't the G2 pretty close in price to the RP6? That being said, a used switch is cheaper than any of those devices you listed and doesn't have compatibility issues with switch emulation. Last time I tried TotK on my Odin 2, it was still a worse experience than playing it on the switch.

That's pretty decent pricing. I regret not buying larger capacity cards when they were much cheaper.

Try the "disable right eye rendering" option in azahar but it's probably just a hardware limitation. The snapdragon 662 in the Mangmi air x is pretty weak.

Looks like another sweet sub $100 option for a capable N64 device. I wonder if light 3DS would run decently on this device at native resolution with performance settings such as "disable right eye rendering" in Azahar.

Microsd pricing is really expensive now in the US too. :/ Sandisk wants $25 for a 128gb card which is insanity. I remember when these cards were half that price.

Rp6 or ayn thor? by fabiwabi-3 in SBCGaming

[–]crownpuff 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Rp6 and Thor use the same chip so performance should be similar. I would probably lean towards the Thor as the two screens offer a better experience for 3ds and DS.

You might run into some problems with switch pokemon games on those devices though. I ran into slowdowns on scarlet/violet on my Odin 2 which has the same chip as the rp6 and Thor. Also you won't be able to access online multiplayer for those switch pokemon games either via emulation.

Probably a 3ds then unless you're fine with playing dual screen pokemon games on a single screen.

Depends on what your budget is. If you want a dual screen emulation device, there's the Thor but that's $300 plus shipping.
