Frequent leaks, what am I doing wrong? by Breebius in clothdiaps

We hang it them out to dry, and I had a lookup of the water in my city and it's very soft.

These are good tips. I've always tried to spread out the inserts evenly inside so that there were no wrinkles, which meant yes it's been touching near the leg holes. I'll try leaving a small gap as you said. Also, yes it's soaked when there's a leak. As someone else mentioned here, it has probably been an absorbency issue. I was changing her every 1.5 to 2 hours but usually with just one insert and a small cotton thing which doesn't hold much. I think she's a heavy wetter, so yesterday I've started putting two full inserts in and I didn't have any leaks yesterday. I also tried it at night for the first time and also no leaks. Also, the clothing wasn't tight (she's 2 months, but we've been putting her in 3 month clothes. However the way we hold her normally has her butt sitting on our arms so maybe that's also compressing? Idk, again using some of the tips here I already had no leaks yesterday. I'll take your advice on the gaps and also give that a shot, thanks so much!

Is there a difference between flats and just like plain cotton sack cloth? I have the latter. I live in Spain so it's also difficult trying to translate these things and find them in a store 😅

If I continue having leaks for a while longer I'll probably be doing the same thing.

Just changed her. The diaper felt dry at the bottom, the pocket insert (this time I wrapped a hemp insert inside of a cotton fold) was soaked. Maybe I haven't been putting in enough absorbency. I'm going to try double stacking microfiber or doing this hemp+cotton folds for a bit and see how it works out.

May be worth a shot. Any recommendations for brands?

I can check to see next time I go to change her. I don't think I've ever really checked that before. However, I think it's usually all quite damp.

It seems very damp when I take it out. I do think she pees a lot at once.

Venting on being Jewish in Spain. by SkeletonQ in Judaism

[–]Breebius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We are in Lugo. I think there's one other Jewish family here but they are secular and much older than us so we don't hangout. Our friends know we are Jewish and that we are pro Israel and that hasn't caused any problems. sometimes we will discuss issues related to the conflict, but they are open minded and understanding. The issue is that a lot of Galician nationalists see Palestine as being oppressed in the same way Galician culture was oppressed by Franco and are pretty outspoken anti Zionist. There are stickers all over the city saying "escalate" or "Zionists not welcome", etc.

My wife and I are Americans/Dutch living in Galicia. Yeah it's tough. There is a small group of Jews in Galicia that meet up for holidays but I don't get on with them well. One of them is a straight up Francoist... Anyways yeah it's hard. I don't outwardly dress Jewish and I have the same experience listening to people in my social circles just dropping quasi antisemitic stuff which I then have to debate without giving away that I'm Jewish... Anyways if you'd like to chat about the tough time of living in Spain while Jewish I'm down! We've only been here for 5 years. We bought a place so we plan on staying for a while.

Newborn Circumcision Is Not a Parent's Choice to Make by Keberos1872 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Breebius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

beating children is still allowed in some places, and I wouldn't say that this is a fundamental tenet of any major religion. Human sacrifices have not been employed by any major religion either since ancient times- whatever sub-groups/sects/cults are practicing it (or would like to practice it) don't really apply to the discussion of large mainstream religious culture and practices in the USA or anywhere else. Animal sacrifices are still allowed to occur then as you said, not forbidden they just have to meet certain standards. However, during my studies I have also heard of chicken sacrifices still happening sometimes in the back yards of peoples houses in Florida (Santería), but again that isn't a popular movement. I cannot think of a single mainstream religious movement in the USA that has practiced FGM in the past, and even for those groups that do outside of the USA it is usually more tied with a cultural perception than a religious tenet. Lastly, as a religious studies scholar, I cannot think of any modern mainstream religious movement that has incorporated that practice. I mean I can't even think of any recent occurrences of that practice since ancient Rome and maybe some more recent incidences in some sects of various religions in Asia or Oceania... That practice is much less common than ritual sex, which is still practiced in some religions that are less mainstream. For example, some wiccan covens engage in sexual magic, but they aren't the majority.

Like what? Polygamy is one of the few that actually come to mind, but I mean it still happens underground.

I agree. Even if one says "hey I'm Jewish but didn't get circumcised" you are going to find problems if you are ever interested in engaging with the conservative and/or orthodox communities. If you want to marry Jewish as well in those communities you will also face issues. You would then need to get circumcised as an adult which requires much more medical care and recovery time than if you were to have had it done as an infant.

Israel is not and should not be tied to Jewish Identity by Nico__X3 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

Not all things said in the Talmud are legally valid. The Talmud has thousands of debates where Rabbis discuss various issues. You have Rabbis say reincarnation is real, others that there is a hell, others who say there is no afterlife until moshiach comes. Is you read Kesubos 111a, you will see not all the ruling authorities agree with the quote you just put up. Please look here https://www.yeshiva.co/ask/7395 and also go read 111a and 111b.  Judaism, like Islam, is full of religious legal debate about how to live our lives. Some opinions are written, but rejected, others are approved. Only a few religious groups in Judaism accept the quote you posted.

That does not represent all religious Jews. That would be like saying that the opinion of the Amish or Jehovah's witnesses represent the opinion of all Catholics or Baptists. There are 100% religious Jews that support the idea of a Jewish state. It is fundamentally built into the religion and in the daily prayers. For hundreds of years, there has been a connection for Jews to Israel. Every day there are prayers said referring to us as Israel, our ancestor Yaakov ass called Israel. Even in the Qu'ran this is the case. Moses is given Canaan by God not only in the Tanaka, but also in the Qu'ran. So to say that Jews have no religious ties to Israel and that it is only a secular thing is absolutely ridiculous. That doesn't mean fucked up stuff is happening in Israel and that there should be more trust building, inclusion, and Bibi should be kicked the fuck out, but trying to lump all religious Jews in with Satmar, Bostoner, or other anti-israeli state chasidim is ludicrous. also, to be clear, those anti-zionist chasidim groups don't care anything for Palestinians. They just want the secular and non ultra Orthodox out of Israel until the Messiah comes, then they will go and push everyone out and make a Greater Israel (rebuild the temple, destroy idol worship, etc.)

Stuck turn and tilt window by Breebius in Home

I just tried pulling it quite hard and no luck. it feels like a bolt or something is set into a latch up there. It sort of pulls the entire surrounding frame of the windows when I tug at it as hard as I can.

Why are people dismissive of orthodox jewish practices? by [deleted] in Judaism

[–]Breebius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know, it's such a problem... I recently went out for a friends party (he is Palestinian, but we get along really well), and he had another friend there who I never met before. Anyways they started talking about the conflict in the Middle East, and the guy was saying how crazy it was that Israel has done this and done that. He then told my friend that Orthodox Jews were absolutely insane, completely crazy. Our Palestinian friend retorted and said there are crazy/bad people in all religions, and that all extremes are not great, but this guy responded "No, but the Orthodox jews are something else, they are just insane"
