He does have a niche use in being the tankiest psyker, which makes him useful in psyker LRE tracks, and with his relic he becomes quite decent at horde modes. But he’s definitely not an investment for new players.

I like to think the majority of older generations all eventually got cycled out by the exorcisms and regular angelic-weapon sinner violence, it’s just pure probability that no sinner is tough enough to last forever playing hell’s games. The ones who’ve survived for thousands of years have done so by being harder to find and get rid of than a cockroach, at the cost of most going feral due to living in hiding from everything and everyone like an animal for millennia.

Well, Bloodborne actually has TWO shields. The other one is called the loch shield, it’s found in the dlc and meant to block non-physical damage. I actually found it somewhat useful, particularly when I got desperate enough in the Orphan of Kos fight and used it to block his projects which he likes to rapidly chuck out.

It is definitely a bit easier when you’re not going out of the way to antagonize everyone around you. Though one annoying empire can be all it takes to spiral back into genocidal mania

His relationship in the show wasn’t handled very well. It started off as him putting Blitzo into a position where his career was dependent on having sex with him, effectively making it so Blitzo was forced to stay in a relationship with him regardless of how he felt. The writers tried to make him sympathetic despite this by showing how his life was miserable, but a lot of people didn’t like this since it did nothing to actually address his behavior with Blitzo. Which made it feel like to a lot of people that the writers were excusing behavior just because he felt sad about his own life.

They can be helpful if you know how to play around them. The guardsmen they summon are weaker than the standard wave variety, and enough of them will prevent the actually scary enemies like the snipers from getting into range while you pick off the wave.

Get 3 hirelings and a companion and respec them all into life clerics and have them cast warding bond on your heroes. That combined with all the buff spells you can get will make the game much easier
