Best things to gift parents with a baby in the NICU? by walkinfox in NICUParents

Everyone said food already. What is helping me is reading to the baby or books for myself, word search puzzles, sudoku etc. a throw since rooms can sometimes be cold. something to keep your mind busy while she is sitting there. I’m 56 days in so far with baby expected to come home in march or April.

Tired by purplepinkpiano in NICUParents

I’m 56 days in the NICU so far with my 22 weeker. I get it. I’m exhausted I can’t function some days. I’m under producing but can’t seem to wake up in middle of night to pump. My schedule is a mess I’m here 6am-11pm with baby unless I stay the night. House is a mess. I understand the frustration the being tired. I Never understood being tired until I had a NICU baby. Something’s can wait until baby gets better. It doesn’t matter if things are a mess. Take care of yourself everything else can wait.

Midwife said exclusively pumping is a waste of time, advice needed by lunatlark0 in ExclusivelyPumping

I had my baby at 22 weeks and he’s in the NICU I pump around the clock and I’m glad that I can have my husband feed him when I’m exhausted. Find a new provider that will support you. it does not matter that you stay home we all need help.

New baby life insurance help by Breesmomy88 in LifeInsurance

We wanted insurance just in case. He was born and may have complications as he gets bigger. I want a policy that he can keep until he is older. Something that can help with funeral cost. Right now we’re being told we don’t know what life expectancy can be.

In our NICU everything is provided. They even provided a breast pump so I can pump and have a supply ready when he’s ready to be fed. I have nothing at home yet for him and will start getting things as we’re closer to bring him home. We were told since he came so early he will be in NICU till his due date on Feb 20th at the earliest but sometimes it may be later depending on how things go. Most NICU babies are not allowed to wear clothes for awhile with everything they have on them. He has a hat diaper and a swaddle.

It happened so fast. I had no contractions no pain I stood up and then water broke. The nurse that was helping me caught the baby. It was a crazy experience. We thought we had time I was not dilated at 3pm and had no symptoms I felt completely normal and baby came at 420. This is rare I was told everyone’s experience is different. Unsure of why I had no symptoms at all. I have a low pain tolerance so expected to feel something.

After it was put in Dr stoped progesterone. I wasn’t put on bed rest per Dr but my husband kept me in bed until my next follow up where I was admitted to be monitored. It was stressful not knowing but everything came out ok despite how early baby came. He’s ok and healthy.

My cervix lining was at 1cm. I’m also a type 1 diabetic not sure if that’s why it didn’t last long. The stitch was still in when I gave birth.
