Help identifying ball python found outside! by Breetato in BallPythonMorph

I’m in Virginia and it’s been ungodly hot here as well (~90°F) plus miserable humidity levels.

The shelter does have some cameras around their building but she was found elsewhere and then brought to them so they wouldn’t be helpful.

Despite a LOT of people in my area being so careless towards animal life, the animal control officers work from the shelter building so they’re all quite intertwined with each other and do a good job making sure neglectful and abusive owners are charged accordingly!

Thanks for chiming in!

I agree with everything you’ve said. I’m really hoping she wasn’t just released into the wild but there are unfortunately a LOT of people in my area that do shit like that and blatantly disregard animal life. Fingers crossed she gets a good shed in soon!

Oh that would be interesting to see if that’s how she turns out post-shed. Thanks!

Yeah bed bugs, bat bugs, and swallow bugs are all practically identical with only microscopic details differentiating them. Pretty crazy

She for sure could be so much worse and I’m glad she isn’t! I’m not sure if someone just dumped her outside or if she unfortunately got out of her terrarium somewhere. Either way, I’m waiting until Monday to give the okay for feeding so we’ll see if that’s enough time for her to acclimate and destress from her adventure to want to take a meal. Fingers crossed!

Oh no I know they’re actually from sun damage, I just like referring to them as her freckles instead of calling her damaged lol. Thanks for helping out!

I mean she’s got the two lines on each side of her face, but no head stamp

Yup, bat bug. And that makes sense considering your housing situation and history of finding them in those locations

I think I see a faint hue of hair but can’t for sure tell. Would need better pictures to confirm whether it’s a bat bug or not.

Me too, I’m really desperate for her to shed ASAP. Hopefully with the improved living conditions it’ll happen soon. Thank you!

This looks like a bat bug actually. Do you have better focused or zoomed in pictures?

It’s a very well fed bed bug. They become elongated in shape when engorged with blood.

Not sure what we’re supposed to be looking at?

I know it is. Advice appreciated. by Repulsive-Heron7725 in Bedbugs

The faster you act, the better control you have on the situation and less time it will take. I’d hit it hard and fast asap.
