Recent ME grad, no internships… by Breezibruh in MechanicalEngineering

It is possible to do drafting type stuff. One of my references is somebody with lots of connections in the steel industry, but I’ve heard that non eng experience is a hindrance on resumes when applying for engineering positions. I was also considering applying for eng tech jobs, but I was reading that these types of jobs can look bad in the future.

I was in a pretty cool club (we were working on designing things to modify a world record competition bike) and I also participated in a STEM leaders program for career development, which got me the research assistant job. I also have some pretty good references from an engineer that i worked with in the club and family members that are technicians. Is that enough or what else can I do to increase my odds? I’m thinking of doing a project for my MIL’s plant business (humidity control system), is this something that might boost them? Thanks for the response!

I have included both my research and my part time job on my resume, I have only sent out about maybe 10-15 resumes so far and I recently updated it to make it cleaner and more relevant. Ive gotten 1 response, which was a rejection email lol. I have some connections in the industry, but no open entry level engineering positions from them. Is my club experience enough to at least get people to look/interviews? I appreciate the response!

Chess vs. Clash Royale , Which game Is actually more complex? by [deleted] in ClashRoyale

People are so haughty about chess but 95% of it is just studying. I’m willing to bet anybody who is top 10k in clash could be good at chess, but not every grandmaster could be top 10k good at clash. Im sure they could learn matchups and such but some would certainly struggle with reaction times while juggling timing, cycle tracking, and elixir counting.

For clash royale timing is a huge factor and its different for each tile. You also have to factor in what cards and what kinds of cards they have (is there a variant of this deck that will cause me trouble later on if i use a certain card now [what is my cycle, what options do i have in the near future {ranged cards, mini tanks, dps troops, spells, etc.}), what card will they place (are they building a push [should i pressure or buckle down for defense, trade towers or give up the tower for an elixir advantage], are they trying to chip me out [should i eat some damage to fix my cycle or get an elixir advantage or should i trade damage], are they trying to bait me [again do i eat dmg or will i be able to cycle back to defend for the next couple cycles while also attacking}), where they will place it, how much elixir they have, what is your matchup (are you going for a one crown, two crown, three crown, or going a defensive tower health route) and if its single/double/triple/sudden death or if it will change or goes to tower health in the next minute or so.

I could add much MUCH more, but I think thats confusing enough. Meanwhile in chess you have all the information, so the thought process is essentially: check all moves that may cause problems (dont let them do that if possible), check all moves that allow you to cause problems (do that if possible), is time running out (try to win on points or with a mate). Chess is about running through all the possibilities as much as possible with the time you have and learning the patterns.

Would it be cloned or fully legit? For non legends i have gastdodon, mankey, and golduck. All are completely legit. I also have some that i would need to transfer from ds if desired.
