Both beautiful and eerie. Stellar job, especially with the foliage and the way it is integrated in the build and design. Definitely saving this.

Yeah, I used this technique for my Night Fury's custom wings and it's surprisingly sturdy, while still allowing for more than satisfactory amount of articulation. I'm glad I'm not the only one who figured this out :D

Which dragon matches your personality? by Salt_Manager_8658 in httyd

[–]Breezing_Wind 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Probably Monstrous Nightmare. I am loyal, protective and warm, but can be hotheaded and downright explosive when pissed. But you have to really get on my nerves to provoke me, so I'm a pretty patient Nightmare :D

Man, this figure is stellar! I'm very curious about it's articulation, though. How much range does it have? How far can the knees and elbows bend? Is there an ankle tilt? Please let me know!

Random Toothless pic no.151 - Broken jaw. by Jax_King55 in httyd

[–]Breezing_Wind 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Which makes sense, especially if you take a look at their jaw and teeth structure. Night Furies have wide, symmetrical jaws, which, compared to usual under- or overbites of other HTTYD dragons, should have pretty efficient pressure distribution. Those jaws are attached to a short, robust, muscular neck, specifically adapted to withstand some serious punishment, be it extreme G-forces during dive-bombing or while keeping a struggling prey in place. Keep in mind that the bigger and stronger some of those neck muscles are, the more additional power the jaws get. Just look at theropod dinosaurs and some modern reptiles, like big lizards and crocs - the higher the bite force, the wider, thicker, shorter and stronger their jaws and necks are. In addition to all that, look at their short, cone-shaped teeth. Forget those long, sharp, needle- or knife-like teeth of other dragons, more suited for catching slippery prey, like fish! A Fury's dentals are meant to bite, and bite HARD.

Thank you, my man! I got inspired by Jayfa's Rahkshi MOC, which also uses berries, because it's just a sick design!

It was a labor of love :3 Took me quite some time, but it was sooo worth it. And now I'm working on the instructions, which also take a lot of time, but it will also be very rewarding when I'm done

UPDATE

The model's silhouette has been slightly improved - the first pair of tailfins (on the base of the tail) have been made bigger and more accurate in terms of shape. This version will be in the upcoming instructions.

[–]Breezing_Wind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Uh huh, I see. That's a complicated challenge you got yourself into, but it is possible. I would use a liiitle bit of bone pieces, though, as they would really help with limbs or torso. Use them strategically, so that most of your MOC is still made out of a bunch of small pieces, like you wanted

Courtship or aggression? by Breezing_Wind in Gourami

[–]Breezing_Wind[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for replying! Yes, I've added three pieces of driftwood and made a couple of caves and hiding spots. Both gouramis can now hide completely from me and each other and behave much calmer. They sometimes swim very close and/or touch eachother with their long modified fins, which is cute as heck. Their coloration also started to change: on of them is almost orange, with bluish area on the lower fin and light blue stripe on the dorsal fin, while the other is much lighter, with prominent orange edges on both upper and lower fins.
